Hello again Simon, could you explain why after building JB70's pimped version the front axle does not return to its original position after pressing down on it? A fix on the front & rear axles of the Lego version has been found and the standard model's suspension works fine. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/Z9eHrJiG3s3aZXU.html

Heya Brickchap - I've had a look the video you linked to, re-examined JB70's instructions and also had a look at the source of the front axle suspension mod (www.eurobricks.com/forum/index.php?/forums/topic/162092-42083-bugatti-chiron-mods-and-improvements/&page=8&tab=comments#comment-2978815). What I've noticed is that on page 79 of JB70's instructions (Book 1) there are 2x 3L blue pins used for the top connecting pin for the springs. I swapped those out on my model just now for the tan frictionless variant (as per the video you linked to) and the suspension recovery is better on my model now, but is not perfect. Comparing Lego's design of the front axle control arms/design versus JB70's modified version. I notice there are additional control arms for JB70's design which 'could' be contributing extra friction/resistance to travel hence the slow or reduced recovery post pressing down on the front suspension. The thing is, it doesn't bother me at all! For me this is a display piece and I won't be regularly playing with it or bouncing it up and down. : )

so I'm not the only one who got this problem with the front suspension.. i thought it was something wrong with my suspension parts..

I added an extra suspension on each corner and replaced the friction pins with frictionless. Works a dream.

Replacing the 3L pins with the friction-less variation certainly helps! I'm glad to hear you have modified and fixed your Bugatti. : )

Every video I've watched for this model hasn't mentioned the two steps of the air brake mechanism. If you keep twisting the key, it will tilt the air brake after it's been raised.

I have this set in my backlog and bought it when it was a third off at the beginning of UK lockdown. I like the lighting kit but on the fence as to whether the modifications are for me. I was for it until the problem with the front suspension was brought to light. Thank you for sharing your experiences.
@CraftedBricks3 жыл бұрын
Hi Simon - I think if you are on-the-fence on whether to do the mods for this set or not, then give them a miss and build the standard version of the model. For the Porsche JB70 dramatically improved that model with his mods, whereas for this Bugatti I feel his mods are more 'hidden' and subtle, so for some perhaps not worth the extra effort and cost.

I too have the Porsche, Bugatti and Sian in their respective pimped version. But I also order extra parts to make the models more monochrome. So swap out all blue pins, red and yellow axles. I also replace some of the oddly coloured parts (like blue in a green model). So much better. I have never installed a light system on either, when do you use the lights? You cannot leave them on all the time, or set a timer I guess. I think on mine the lights would never be on.
@CraftedBricks2 жыл бұрын
That's so good to hear zonoskar! I have the Sian, extra parts for the pimp'd version and the lighting kit, but no time! I probably will do that build in the New Year. Good tip, I'll make sure as I build the Sian I have spares on hand to swap out any weirdly coloured parts, I really hate that too. To answer your question, I don't often put the lights on, it's a mod that I think is fun to do and look at when you first build the model. But after being in my display case for months I barely if ever turn the lighting kit on for these sets.

I got the pimped up 42056 porche, 42083 chiron and Pimped up 42110 Defender, all of them really good. im thinking of getting the 42115 Lambo aswell, and of course make it pimped up version aswell. So much better than original version.
@CraftedBricks3 жыл бұрын
Excellent! A fellow modder! It's so good to hear you have built and that you are enjoying theses modified sets. I've got the mod parts for the Lambo and the set itself but I've not started the build yet. ...I've got too many other builds and things to get through at the moment. What did you think about the modified Defender, is it worth doing?
@sitsia38083 жыл бұрын
@@CraftedBricks oh yeah definetly worth doing it, actually i did a sort of "custom" extra modding on the 42083 Bugatti aswell, copying the door handle lock mechanism/build from the 42056 Porche pimp up version, to make it work on the Bugatti too, only bad part was i had to add in another beam in the doors so it becomes basically a bit taller and therefore the "windows" get a bit smaller, or like it's not possible to see as much inside as originally, but it's just 1 beam so not that much atleast.

Hi Sitsia, yes I know! I have the parts I need to build the pimped Sian. But I've not bought the Ferrari yet or the parts to mod it. Looking ahead I have a busy schedule and line-up of videos to make for the next 3 months so I probably won't be able to get onto the builds and making videos for the pimped versions of those two sets until next year! Time is flying! Thanks for commenting. Cheers, Simon

I know what you mean - but I can't recall if that is a thing for this Bugatti model, it was ~2 years ago that I built this model and made the video. I think your safest option to get the right answer is to send the designer a message on Rebrickable. I hope this helps!

I have built this model but I am thinking of pulling it apart just so I can build it again. I was just wondering if it is too big a job and if I should forget about that. I’ve never pulled apart a technic kit.
@CraftedBricks2 жыл бұрын
Hi Michael, to answer your question, yes I think it would be too big a job and not worth taking your model apart to build JB70's modified version. Especially as there's little to no cosmetic difference between the modified version and the standard Lego version. This is a display piece at the end of the day. If you do want to tinker with your model further then you can add the lighting kit if you want to, it can most definitely be installed post build. I hope this helps! 🙂

Hi Mojtaba - yes the lighting kit is reasonably straight forward to install after you have already built the model! And the battery box takes 3x AA batteries.

@CraftedBricks2 жыл бұрын
Hi Elvin, do you mean the 1x1 clear plates for the headlights being fitted stud out, versus anti-stud facing out for the standard model? Yes that is so and it is deliberate, when you fit the LED's the only way they will seat properly in the head light assemblies is to have the 1x1 plates fitted with the stud facing out. The LED's sit inside the anti-stud recess of each plate. This is as-per the Light-my-bricks instructions. : )

Hi Yonaz, I have the Sian set + lighting kit + parts to build JB70's modified version. But no time! I'll prioritise that build + my Shuttle booster rocket & fuel tank build for early in the New Year. They are both builds I'm really keen to do (and video).

Are most of the changes internal? How much does it change the surface look?
@CraftedBricks2 жыл бұрын
Hi Adam, most of the changes are internal, so I wouldn't recommend doing the mods if you have already built your model. Taking it apart and starting over is not worth it. The lightning kit can be added relatively easily though post model build, so that could be worth considering... 👌
