The 200 ft2 rental studio apartment I'm making over needed a Murphy bed so I built the most pimped out Murphy bed you'll ever see, complete with an industrial inspired interior with lighting. I did it using basic hand tools (no table saw or track saw), and without a workshop or fancy woodworking tools.

I think Murphy beds are great, even in a larger home. We had an extra bedroom and converted the closet space with a Murphy bed. Then we used it as a small sitting area/ dressing room until we needed the extra bed. Cute note: my grandson thought it was a “Smurfy” bed and he always wanted to sleep in the Smurfy bed when visiting. I ended up making special pillow cases for that bed out of smurf material...he loved it!

When we built our Murphy bed, we screwed in two tiny eye screws into the surface of the mattress support panels, under the mattress, and tied the mattress down with a length of 1/4" twill tape. The mattress stays with the bed, and since we s fewer them in about 18" from the outside, we can tuck the sheets in like a real bed.

Thank you for sharing every process, including the parts that didn't work. Layman like me keeps thinking you know everything when you start, but actually you experimented with different things and see which works. Most KZfaqrs just edited the failed parts and uploaded the process that works, making the project looks easier than it actually is.

I am so genuinely excited about this series. I live in public housing which is notoriously small and even though a lot of us live here indefinitely it's still important to be mindful of the changes we make to our spaces because we rent. I can't wait to watch the other videos and to start thinking seriously about installing a Murphy bed!💖

Did I mention you're my hero? Anytime someone is freaking out at me for using power tools while wearing something cute, I just go look at your channel. Also I thought Murphy beds required the bed to be screwed into the floor, which is why I hadn't put one in my rental. Thank you!

I enjoy watching these videos but lets be honest :, to be able to put into practise such difficult ideas you must have a good deal of experience , skills and expensive tools. Anyway, I can not less than admiring such an exhibition of "girl power".

Hipatia de Alejandría I was impressed she did the cuts with a circular saw and a hand saw without sawhorses! Despite my best dreams, this is def beyond my skill level (or patience level really because I hate the measuring) but those tools were speaking my diy language.

Please don't judge yourself so harshly based on one of the more difficult projects that she does. Doing something like this is definitely _not_ how you learn skills with tools and measuring. 1. Go to your local Walmart (do you have a Walmart where you live?) and actually check the prices on a circular saw and blade. When I did this, I was _shocked_ that it would fit into my budget. 2. Put this into the YT search bar and click on stuff: *how to use power tools - beginner* 3. Just fiddle around with cutting and then make something using your imagination. A phone stand. A bird-feeder. Book-ends. Cup holder. Srsly, just fiddle around until you aren't afraid of the machine anymore. 4. Find a simple project with which to learn like a planter box (planter boxes should leak a little so the water drains out). Something cheap so you don't cry if you do your cuts wrong. Keep doing this until your friends ask you to make something for them. Then teach them how to DIY. Teaching is the best way to learn. 5. Magically you have acquired "experience" and "skills". *_Go forth and conquer!_* 😁📏📐💪🧰🔨👷‍♀️🏆

Let's be honest, no one starts out experienced. We all have to start somewhere. She empowers and inspires people to think about what they are capable of doing. There are plenty of easy projects on KZfaq people can watch to gain experience. This project is a worthy goal.

Really have missed seeing your work, however, I was so disappointed the you bought the Murphy bed kit and went that way. Most of us can build the bed okay..... what we want from you is how to DIY the remainder. I'm sure you had to do what you did to save time for your client, but another time when that isn't a necessity, I'd rather see you DIY the whole thing.
