Pine Refinement - Greenwood Bonsai

2 жыл бұрынIn this video Corin is refining 2 pines for a customer, Japanese black pine and a Japanese white pine. At the end of the growing season its good to remove old needles and tidy up the tree. Both trees are thinned out to allow more light and are throughout the tree.

I see that the bottom right branch is counter balancing the movement. But it seems the branch is coming out of the inside of the curve. It would be one of those branches I would stare at for a few hours trying to decide.

So if you don't get a full second flush should you still candle prune as if we do get 2 full flushes of growth or should we prune like a Scots pine ect?

Doesn't it turn the tips of the needles brown by cutting them back like that ?

Yes, I mention this in the video. But the tree is not being exhibited, so it is done to let more light into the foliage pads to encourage bad budding.

The black pine is healthy but when your client has the correct maintenance schedule than are the needles more compact and you do not have to cut the needles .Cutting the needles result in brown points at end of the needles. Too much water and fertiliser result in long needles ,try to avoid with correct maintenance !

You are quite correct, but due to external reasons it put out longer needles this year. This work I did was to get it back on track for the owner.
