This was one of those slightly random purchases that I wasn't really sure if there was any point to. I've got several mini crawlers and don't use them as much as I, perhaps, should. This looked pretty but was likely to be a complete dud. However, at only £70, I thought it was worth a punt.
Was I surprised? Yes. It's a really nice RC and not just a really nice model.
I'll be giving it a drive in the next video and then comparing it to an SCX-24.

I prefer the new defender than the old. They needed to make it four-wheel independent suspension on it though.

I think this thing looks nice but I can't stand real ones. I passed two today and I really think they're ugly. I reckon independent suspension would be a bit of a big ask for a £70 car.

i ordered myself one a few days ago after seeing more videos of them, im going to see if ftx mini outbacks wheels fits on this one as they use a simular oddsize hex hub, dont know if they will actually fit until ive tried tho, im not truly a fan of the big size wheel with the low profile mudterrain tire. I just want to eliminate the "toy" look and enhance the scale look and potentially have it perform even better with a softer tire.

The wheels and tyres from an FTX mini are a bit too big for the wheel arches. I'm going to try an RC4WD set as they're smaller.

The small black plastic plate is, instead of the tow hitch. { tow hitch was missing on my model }

Differently finished in the sense of livery yes. The wording D E F E N D E R across the Bonnet/Hood that, doesn't appear on your model and, mine too. But, it is clearly printed on the box and, it appears on other 2402's models viewed on u tube. But that tow hitch was missing on mine which left me applying the small black plate.

Looks like something I wouldn't want to get muddy, no further than the living room! I like it. Very unlike me. I'm about to finish a wildlife filming mud loving beast with multiple IR cameras, FPV etc. I'm considering having a much smaller vehicle I can deploy to investigate the beginnings of Badger sets. Most likley tethered but still needs to be capable on loose ground. Mini 4x4, high torque super soft tyres... Any ideas? (Hope your pies are surviving this heatwave) (I like my pies a little warm, not hot, not cold, but tropical room temperature, especially meat and potato. (he just put the word meat before potatoes... there is no proof that meat ever existed in a meat and potato pie... "shut up Frank, pies are all they have, a simple peoples, now go and distract them with a steak and kidney while I destroy what is left of a tourist attracting traditional market town. " "where would you like to go after lunch? Poundland? Pound stretcher? Pound World? How about B&M bargains then a tour of the pawn shops... cash converters and alike. Wooooo maybe some historic sites like WILKO. "You never did like small independents with character did you Nandy" RANT OVER

I'd have a look at an SCX24. They're great little trucks in various styles and because the "diffs" are worm-gears, they're pretty quiet and very torquey. Regarding the pies, it'll always be meat and potato to me. I guess you're a fellow Wiganer from your rant.
