‘24 hours - Bootleg Records’ is a portion of a documentary, originally aired in the UK in 1971. It includes Pink Floyd manager Steve O’Rourke being interviewed, as well as a portion of Pink Floyd working on ‘Echoes’ from the album ‘Meddle’, in the studio.

Nobody in the band seemed to thrilled about the bootleg ordeal in the video but over the years I've read numerous articles stating that they really don't care if their live shows are bootlegged and sold on the market. David was quoted as saying that he was very flattered by the idea actually. I mean the audio quality is going to be below record industry standards but there are some REALLY good sounding live shows of theirs in existence. You just have to do your homework to find them...

god, I would love to hear more of that Echoes bit. I'm hearing a guitar part I haven't previously heard, and that's from years of listening to this composition. There's so many layers to the piece, and it's all very inspiring for a musician as myself. I love it!

@@brockgan8941 Wembley 1974 was released in 2011 on The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here Deluxe Editions. Echoes was on the bonus disc of The Early Years.

I did hear a 'bootleg' recording of 'One of These Days', it was said to have been recorded in a basement bar venue before they became the Rock n Roll Guru's they are, and sadly were. Nick, Rick, Syd, wish you were still here. I really do wish I could find it again and email David's and Roger's producers. It was amazing btw.

steve o rourke is one of rock n rolls better manager,s, he was never a back biting swindler and he made sure he meet all 4 of our floyders means one way or another, god rest his soul

He remained Pink Floyd and David Gilmour, Nick Mason and Rick Wright's manager until his 2003 passing. Roger kept a grudge with Steve even to this day.

Thank God for bootlegs.... the BBC material used by PF on the over priced Early Years box set is not as good quality wise as the bootleg recordings already out there.

The BBC sessions from 1971 on the box set were in Mono. The stereo mixes were eh, I rather listen to mono of the BBC stuff.

Yeah, the "Let There Beeb More Light" bootleg set is essential. The versions on the boxset are such a joke. It's laughable. It doesn't even have anything to do with stereo or mono. The early Syd stuff sounds like it was recorded through an old telephone on the official boxset, like "Set the Controls", for example. On the bootleg, it's crystal clear.

The bootlegs came from Westwood One US radio and WNEW US radio sources whereas the official ones come from the BBC itself.

@@psychedelicpiper999 It has a lot to do with Stereo and Mono mixes. When Zeppelin's BBC Sessions were released, Jimmy Page did new stereo mixes.

Not pop music as it's usually meant today; pop as opposed to folk songs and classical pieces. Simply, music being made to be sold for a living.

Steve O’Rourke, Pink Floyds band manager. Died in 2003. David, Rick and Nick got together at his funeral and played Fat Old Sun and Great Gig in the Sky. Dick Perry also played saxophone as they walked the coffin out.

ROGER JIMENEZ Pretty sure Roger didn't like Steve. Fuck him anyways, Steve kept the Wall footage hidden from Roger/Pink Floyd for years.

@@PinkFloydBootlegs No, Roger Waters has had cold feet on releasing The Wall footage as far back as 1989 to now. Roger has sat on it and gives every excuse not to release it (videotape format is not good, I found more, I don't want to etc). David and the rest said if they had The Wall footage, it would have been released already (goes back to the release of Is There Anybody Out There? The Wall Live 1980-81 in 2000 which they released over Roger's objections and also had Storm Thorgerson provide the artwork over Roger's objections). Roger is the elephant in the room. Roger is the one who is preventing the sale of the Floyd catalog and feels $500 Million is not good enough and also Roger doesn't want his compositions to be used in commercials nor movies. He wanted liner notes on the Animals remix, the others didn't. He oversaw The Final Cut Revised Version of 2004 which the others had no involvement with as they disown the album but Roger LOVES The Final Cut and wrote, sang and produced the album.

@@rogerjimenez5318 Roger is a miserable man. Roger didn't even go to Rick's funeral nor comment on Storm Thorgerson's passing. Roger holds grudges with everyone and still attacks Steve, Storm and Rick after they passed away.

Actually, that's the only footage about this that is on the disk (REVERBER/ATION 1971). After this there are some interviews with Storm Thorgerson about the band albums covers and some Atom Heart Mother live performances.

Look at their faces while the bootleg is playing. They're thinking this is so cool! But of course they can't say it. Bootlegs are history. They might not sound awesome but they have their own charm. I don't know that too many people bought these records having no idea what they were getting.

It's very possible that's the only footage that exists. People didn't shoot whole shows like they do now, they would just come in and maybe film a couple songs. That's the case with a lot of what's on the box set.

Great video ! I had to subscribe, as consider myself a good Pink Floyd fan, ( Perhaps a little overboard ) since the start... I have ALL of their ORIGINAL albums, and 45's, including several copies of the ever elusive "See Emily Play" on Tower, pic/slv, and multiple copies of most albums, (Dark Side Of Moon box set, 1/2 spd master, Quad, etc, etc... My question to you, as being a Pink Floyd authority, if you can help me.. I have a copy, (QUAD) of Wish You Were Here, and at the end of Side 1, after finale of "Welcome to the Machine" it goes into approx 18 sec. trail of "Shine On You Crazy Diamond" and then trail off.. Is it just me, or have you heard of this before ???? It is not on any other of my copies, stock copy, or 1/2 speed Master..Only on this "QUAD" album.. is rather strange !!!! If you, or any of your viewers could help me with this, I appreciate so much ! This has bothered me for years.. Thanx for the "Floyd" ! ! ! AND; KEEP PLAYING THE MUSIC ! ! !

Pop music? Pink Floyd was pop when Syd Barrett was in the band. The albums made after Syd left was pure progressive laid back rock. And Pink Floyd has always been the top rock band! Btw Richard looks so stunningly handsome in this footage

I bootlegs dei Pink Floyd sono una figata pazzesca, ci danno l’idea di come suonavano dal vivo ,anche se a volte la qualità sonora non è eccelsa. A volte le loro copertine sono , a mio parere , delle vere e proprie opere d’arte. Per non parlare poi delle colorazioni dei vinili. Il management dei Floyd può essere contrario, ma i bootlegs contribuiscono a fare dei Floyd una band immortale!

Why are these guys remastering bootlegs and releasing them now, then? Also, Echoes ain't pop, man. Some of their music might've been considered pop back then, but Echoes is untouchable.

lol Without bootlegs, much of the material on the Early Years boxset wouldn't have been possible. Funny how that works out that way. I do agree about improving the quality, though, and there are many bootlegs out there with high quality live material. I actually feel there weren't enough bootlegs of the early Floyd.

@@patricksommer3971 Nah, the Stockholm gig was originally recorded by an audience member, and it was first heard as a bootleg. "Scream Thy Last Scream", "Vegetable Man", "In The Beechwoods", "Lucy Leave", and "I'm A King Bee" were all only available through bootleg, and weren't officially released until 2016.

He said: OK, just promise you won't make anything bad with it." The taper of the show. so it was kind of an official recording Also, cassettes were a new thing in 67 (the first music cassettes were sold in 65), so this was recorded with a reel to reel tape machine. You CAN'T hide such a big thing.

They did but sat in the vaults (not counting the BBC Sessions through 1971). Wembley 1974 was not officially released until The Dark Side of the Moon and Wish You Were Here Deluxe Editions. Of course Steve helped The Wall Live 1980-81 recordings get released along with David, Nick and Rick over Roger's objections (Roger was against its release and against Storm Thorgerson doing the sleeve for it).
