Pink Floyd is the name of the group. Named after two 1930s blues musicians named Pink Anderson and Floyd Council. David Gilmour is the lead guitarist and lead singer and is the one who sings "I have become Comfortably Numb" Richard Wright is the main keyboard player and sings too. He's the one with grey hair. Nick Mason the drummer sitting down is the third member of Pink Floyd. Those 3 are of the original group. All the others on stage are there because pink floyds music is so complex they need that many people to recreate their studio albums sound live!

Pink Floyd (not one person) was formed in 1965. The band is called Pink Floyd after the names of two American blues musicians - Pink Anderson and Floyd Council (the same name Syd Barrett gave his two cats). The founders were Syd Barrett (guitar + vocals), Roger Waters (bass + vocals), Richard Wright (keyboards + vocals), Nick Mason (drums) and Bob Klos (guitar). Klos was only in the band for a very short time. In 1968 Syd Barret left the band (mental problems related to drug use) and was replaced by David Gilmour (guitars + vocals). This concert is from 1994, when Roger Waters was no longer in the band (he left in 1985). He was replaced by Guy Pratt on bass guitar. Other backing musicians on this gig are Tim Renwick - guitars, vocals, Jon Carin - keyboards, vocals, vocals, Dick Parry - saxophones, Gary Wallis - percussion, Sam Brown, Claudia Fontaine, Durga McBroom - vocals.

The band Pink Floyd actually made a joke about their name in one of there songs called "have a Cigar" where a music Executive says "the band is just fantastic, that is really what I think,.... Oh and by the way which ones Pink?" Later the band went on to make an album called "The Wall" about the life of a fictional Rock Star called Pink. The album takes you through the life of Mr Pink Floyd from childhood to rock star to eventual insanity.

I believe that Syd Barret was NOT a founding member...... he joined after they formed the band..... but none of them were musicians and they couldn’t play at all. As it was, Syd couldn’t play either but wanted to be lead guitar...... so they all started learning but concentrated on making notes and stretching them out....... creating the Ounk Floyd sound.
