That’s absolutely true. The whole album tells a story. About a burned out rock star who has built an emotional wall to protect himself from lots of emotional baggage - hence the album title, The Wall. But he has started to unravel emotionally behind his wall, under the pressure of all his unresolved issues. This song is just one part of that story. You can also watch the movie, which is really a very long music video. But listening to the album is better.

I played it at my dad's funeral for his last song whilst everyone left. He loved em a lot and it felt so fitting. It really was the perfect song to end on. The rest of the funeral was black sabbath and a few death metal tracks haha. Me and him loved the same stuff, and whilst I wasn't the biggest fan of Pink Floyd, it was his night, and it was the only song acceptable to end it.

The guy who introduced Pink Floyd to me over 20 years ago, a friend of my dad, explained just how amazing a guitar player David Gilmore is. He explained that David doesn’t play the guitar, he breathes life into it, and his solos are the guitar speaking to your soul, that’s why his solos never sound strained or rushed or off pitch. In my humble opinion this type of guitar playing cannot be taught, it is god given.

The entire "Dark Side of the Moon" album is an experience, they take you on a journey. And yes I agree, you really need headphones to really hear every part of the song. The music and instruments move from one side to another in your ears. I fell in love with this album when it came out in the 70's. Music asks you to be honest. You never needs to "accept the message." But someone very emotional and articulate drove their life off a cliff to detail to the rest of us what is there. The best and brightest among us sometimes tell tales we all relate to. And in those few cases, it's so worth being alive today. Thank you for uploading your experience. I honestly hope you are true in your reaction. And I hope you are happy today, my friend if you will have me.

Been a Pink Floyd fan since the late 60s. You should do their biggest album next, the one that made them into a superstar band, "Dark Side of the Moon". But it's a concept album meaning it's best listened to, (and reacted to) from beginning to end because one song will blend into the next one, and so on. I recommend do it two parts at least, Side A of the original 1973 album in order is: Speak To Me, Breathe In The Air, On The Run, Time, and The Great Gig In The Sky. After you catch your breath and recover from that one, do a Part 2 video of Side B starting with Money, Us And Them, Any Colour You Like, Brain Damage and ending with Eclipse. Pause between or during the songs to make comments so as to avoid the copyright hassle, besides I suspect you'll be pausing here and there to think about what you just heard or cry a little in any case, LOL! If Comfortably Numb gets to you emotionally this way, you'll really like Dark Side of the Moon!

@@nneamakailechetv49. Well, thank you for doing reactions! It's fun to watch young people get into the music I grew up with. Many will suggest you do Pink Floyd's "Time" or "Great Gig in the Sky" next, but that's like starting a movie in the middle of it rather than the beginning. In any case Nneamaka, enjoy your trip through the land of progressive rock and pop!

Welcome to Pink Floyd For a peek into the abyss ideally I would say do the album The Dark Side of the Moon in 2 hits (side 1 & side 2) because each track transitions into the next and themes follow each other. If that's too much, at least do a double track "Time" immediately followed by "The Great Gig in the Sky" Trust me, this will touch your very soul! Also worth have lyrics to hand but definitely definitely definitely Headphones 🎧 or buds! There's so much detail you will miss without headphones 🤔

Pink Floyds' music has a way of taking the listener on a emotional journey, their music speaks to the soul. I keep hearing these kinds of things from people hearing Pink Floyd for the first time, they are truly an incredible band! They've sold over 300 million albums worldwide, and their music has touched millions of peoples souls for years,... 51 years to be exact. Pink Floyd was formed in 1965 in London. If you'd like to hear more of Pink Floyds music, there are thousand of videos out there to enjoy. Also, there are some wonderful live performance videos of them when the were young and, when they got older. The 1994 Pulse Concert is a phenomenal example of the kind of Live Show Pink Floyd has been putting on since 1965! Check out any song from that concert and you cannot go wrong!

As many others have already said, the live version from the Pulse concert is THE definitive version, even without Roger Waters.

Don't really care if anyone disagrees with me but Gilmour is the greatest of all time!!!!! There are faster, more technical players around but no one gives you chills like this man!!!! He's well into his 70s so appreciate him while you can👍

Gender, race, nationality; doesn't matter. The exact same emotions well up to this song, and that in the end is incredibly hopeful.

You could probably do a reaction on pink Floyd every day for a year.. and maybe get it right...

You have a very sweet spirit. Pink Floyd can be very cynical and... kind of a downer. They are fascinating, taking their listeners on a journey. But not always to a very joyful place. I am thinking a happier genre than 'prog' would bring more smiles to your beautiful face. (I dunno - Maybe some Beatles?)

When you're 62 and had a baby stolen from you, parents divorce, abandoned in a Kings Cross cinema by your mother, made redundant 4 times in 30 years, seen your kids go through divorce and other rejections ... you understand the line "I have become Comfortably Numb". But of course - as I am told all the time ... no person could survive that.
