This song works on several levels. The Berlin Wall. Pink Floyd's "The Wall", the fracturing of his working partnership with Roger Waters. And on a more basic level, coming to terms with the falling apart of any relationship. The "shades of grey" part always hits me. In most cases, there isn't always a right and a wrong. Relationships, whether political or personal, always are way more complex than that.

No the best version is the real live from 1994, not this shitty remastered version.

Just the rehearsal which is why it was shortened. If you'd like to see a beautiful version of Great Day being performed in front of an audience, I recommend watching David Gilmour's live in Gdansk from his 2006 tour. It's in hi-def and is performed with the backing of the Polish Baltic Philharmonic Orchestra.

This was the rehearsal version (no people at the concert), it comes in two parts, this song blends into the next song. There are no other videos that I have found on TY that show this song being played (During Pulse) Thanks for the reaction, been waiting for someone to react to this. Its a great song that digs deep into the soul.

This is Pink Floyd, so the instrumentation is always on another level, but let's acknowledge the backing vocals too. They are always mesmerizing, on the albums and on the tours.

And, I'm older, than you, and, I'm looking at all the bands, like PINK FLOYD, LED ZEPPELIN, JIMI HENDRIX, QUEEN DIRE STRAITS, ETC, ETC..... All the time! Hey Beauty! the "Lost for Words" cut was a rehearsal for the tour and is bonus material on some albums. They only played the song at very few concerts.

Only of recent have I heard anything from this album The Division Bell. Love so much PF and like a lot of classic bands the music paled in the 90s as the members aged. Not with this. I now need to hear EVERYTHING PF. Everything. Omg this album is amazing

This video is the rehearsals for the Pulse concert before the audience came in. On the Bluray there are two takes from A Great Day For Freedom and Lost For Words. But IMO, they remastered this and it sounds even better than Pulse, which they unfortunately can't remix or remaster due to legal contract issues. The sound on this is crazy good

It's great to see someone appreciating the Division Bell album , it's an underated album , Pink Floyd only done 2 albums post Roger Waters , A Momentary Lapse of Reason being the other one

Your comment at the end about Gilmour being to the guitar as Da Vinci is to art and so on - I firmly believe that in 200 years time, people will be talking about Gilmour and Pink Floyd the same way as people talk about Ludwig van Beethoven today. It'll be "classical" music that is studied in schools.

Here's some insight for ya. When they were young and at the start of the band they were communist/socialist, then they got BIG and made a ton of money and were completely lost. In the sense of a communist/socialist with money, something was "broke" in their ideology. Well they ended up as most of us would, proving Churchill right, something like: if your young and not a socialist/communist then you have no heart, if you "old" and a communist/socialist then you have no brain.

"FREEDOOOOOOM". Great movie with Mel Gibson at his finest. It's a call I'm tuned in to hear from the united people of Ukraine. That really would be a good day for freedom. Another perfectly performed song. A little tip:- if you react to song from the pulse gig, look out for the re edited " pulse 360", it has the most jaw dropping sound quality. And boasts having a 360° surround sound through headphones. The wall could refer to the one in Berlin, or be connected to another Floyd album called the wall, ( comfortably numb come from that album), or even have something to do with David and Roger Waters falling out over the comfortably numb song. A poor example of how to be adults in front of children. Their feud was never resolved, and both men still avoid each other. Very sad. Sad because when they would together, the world was given some of the best music ever written.

the original version from pulse is better than this stupid " re edited" version. I don't know why they changed the solo, which was way better.

The original from 1994 and not this stupid remastered version is the one you should listen to. The solo is much better in the original i don't know why the changed the version. This one Sucks.
