Hey Man! Andriy had the first verse of the hymn of the Ukrainian Sich Riflemen recorded next to the St Sophia's Cathedral in Kyiv without any music in the background at all. The whole hymn, if translated, it goes like this: Oh, the red viburnum in the meadow bent over Somewhy our glorious Ukraine has been grieved And we'll tie the viburnum branches high up And we'll have glorious Ukraine (hey, hey) cheered up Our volunteers are marching to the bloody dance To free our Ukrainians from the hostile chains Oh we'll shackle the hostile chains down And we'll have glorious Ukraine (hey, hey) cheered up Hey, in the field the wheat shines like gold Oh, Sich Riflemen make enemies' blood go cold And we will have that wheat harvested up And we'll have glorious Ukraine (hey, hey) cheered up As the stong wind blows from the wide steppes, It will honor Sich Riflemen across all Ukraine Oh we will have this glory guarded with a hawk's eye And we'll have glorious Ukraine (hey, hey) cheered up *Some creative freedom has been taken during the translation, but I am bloody proud of how it came

According to the information from another videos, Pink Floyd performed a concert in Kyiv with Boombox band few years ago. And David Gilmour’s daughter-in-law showed the video of Andrii singing the 100-years old Ukrainian protest song in Kyiv and they decided to record the song based on Instagram video while Andrii was recuperating from an injury in hospital

Andriej is singing this song on empty Kiev street originally. Video of him went viral immediately. I think that's how Pink Floyd found him. Pink Floyd are still as fantastic as they used to be. And Andriej went back to fight for his country. When the song came out he was in the hospital with face injury. Help Ukraine.🇵🇱

@@laceyherst2786 no. Pink Floyd haven't toured since 1994. Gilmour played at a concert in support of Belarusian(!) artists in 2013(?) and Boombox served as his band, as their singer Andriej was prevented from taking part because of visa problems. Come on people, do a little digging for the facts! Don't make them up. The description of the song on Pink Floyd's very own channel tells you all of this.

This video makes me tear up every time, for some reason especially the moment at 5:23 with the guy who jumped on a tank and thus stopped it. And he's not the only one who did that, there is a lot of footage of people standing before tanks and military fearlessly to protect their homes and cities. Proud to be Ukrainian.

The lyrics of that Ukrainian patriotic folk song are very simple, but powerful: Oh, in the meadow a red viburnum tree has bent down low, Somehow our glorious Ukraine is sad now. But we will raise up that red viburnum tree, We will make our glorious Ukraine joyous again.

I'm from Ukraine. In this song, Ukraine is associated with a fragile, delicate and beautiful viburnum tree. Historically, our country has always been surrounded by stronger states and our ancestors, just as we do today, have always had to defend our country, our freedom with arms in their hands. The song says that we will never let anyone offend our viburnum, we will protect and maintain the fragile branches of a beautiful tree. The song is really sad today, look at the footage. It's not from an action movie of some sort, it's all real people from real events. Imagine that in one of them you recognize your neighbor or a little girl you know from the school where your daughter studies, imagine your feelings. Now we all feel this way, it is impossible to hold back tears. May God help us! Glory to Ukraine!!! Boombox soloist Andrey was shot in the face by the way. Thank goodness not serious and he's back in action! Good luck to him and all his comrades!! Sorry for translate.google

Hey Johnny, a big thank you for this wonderful and very emotional reaction. I can only agree with you on all points. When I heard the song for the first time, I had goosebumps and tears in my eyes just like now. 💗😢 The origin of this song lies in a Ukrainian protest song written during the First World War. The Pink Floyd track's title is taken from the last line of the song, which translates to "Hey, Hey, Rise up and rejoice." Ukrainian text: Oyu luzi chervona kalyna pokhylylasya, Chohos' nasha slavna Ukrayina zazhurylasya. A my tuyu chervonu kalynu pidiymemo, A my nashu slavnu Ukrayinu, hey-hey, rozveselymo! Englishe text: In the meadow a red viburnum has bent down low Our glorious Ukraine has been troubled so And we'll take that red viburnum and we will raise it up And we, our glorious Ukraine shall, hey - hey, rise up - and rejoice! And we'll take that red viburnum and we will raise it up And we, our glorious Ukraine shall, hey - hey, rise up and rejoice!

There are so many great tunes from PF, that it's so hard to choose. My favorite is a sentimental favorite of mine and not one of their more well-known songs, called 'A Pillow of Winds', from the 'Meddle' (my favorite of theirs), album. 'Echoes' is the biggest hit song from the album, and also a great tune. Another song I really enjoy is 'Julia Dream', one of their earliest songs. 'Great Gig in the Sky' is awesome. 'Arnold Layne' is an early Syd Barrett- era song that is intriguing. Their album 'Division Bell' has many amazing songs.

The situation is very simple. There is nothing to understand. There is the occupier, the aggressor, Russia, and there is the country of Ukraine, which is waging a liberation struggle. And you say that it doesn't matter who is good and who is not. This is how to compare Germany and England in 1941, or the United States and England in 1775

the continuation of which is not in video: Marching forward, our fellow volunteers, into a bloody fray, For to free, our brother - Ukrainians, from hostile chains. And we, our brother - Ukrainians, we will then liberate, And we, our glorious Ukraine, shall, hey - hey, cheer up - and rejoice! And we, our brother - Ukrainians, we will then liberate, And we, our glorious Ukraine, shall, hey - hey, cheer up - and rejoice! Oh in the field, of early spring wheat, there's a golden furrow, Then began, the Ukrainian riflemen to, engage the enemy, And we'll take, that precious, early wheat and will gather it, And we, our glorious Ukraine, shall, hey - hey, cheer up - and rejoice! And we'll take, that precious, early wheat and will gather it, And we, our glorious Ukraine, shall, hey - hey, cheer up - and rejoice! When the stormy winds blow forth from the wide steppes, They will glorify, through out Ukraine, the Sich riflemen. And we'll take the glory of the riflemen preserving it, And we, our glorious Ukraine, shall, hey - hey, cheer up - and rejoice! And we'll take the glory of the riflemen preserving it, And we, our glorious Ukraine, shall, hey - hey, cheer up - and rejoice!

David has only become a stronger player they the years. Nick has been playing with his band Saucerful of Secrets. It’s an awesome song but (and not in a bad way at all) more like David Gilmour’s solo stuff. Also there is an official version with both Ukrainian and translated English that is officially from Pink Floyd on you tube as well. May Ukraine be triumphant. Slava Ukraine. This American’s heart is feeling torn out by seeing one stupid murderous dictator destroy a country and so many people’s lives. May he be treated by and suffer like Navalny in his years to come. Asshole deserves it.

Hey man, found your vlog just by luck, not your regular fan ... I sympathize with your approach of piece place for everybody, where there are all people of the world, happy and just signing ... if you add they also smoke marihuana and have sex with anybody ... than reminds me something from last century ... However, although your best will, the world is not like that and probably it never will be. The occupation of UA is crystal clear and have two clear sides. The side of evil, the side of violence, the side of murders, thiefs and bastards ... and the side of innocent victims, extremly proud and strong people, successfully defending their lives, their home, their country, the europe and our all's (so called west) values. Including yours. That's the reason, David invested the whole brand of Pink Floyd to help. There is no neutrality possible in this war, man, no. Sorry to tell you.

I don’t want to be rude ,this is incredibly important what you do by sharing such pieces which show what’s going on in Ukraine .But ..There is no way nowadays to be in between, all about love and freedom etc .Because this freedom has been taken from every Ukrainian person (child, women, men) ,so many lifes has been taken .There is clear picture :bad and good side .There is nothing in between . The excuse like” I am apolitical or I am for love and piece “ is not available anymore .I am not from Ukraine ,but I have Ukrainian roots .My best friend lost her house -it’s been destroyed by Russians in Mariupol ,her mom ,aunt and cousins were hiding in the basement for 2 months ,drinking water from the radiator .They almost died .this only one particular case from many .I am sorry for my rudeness ,but this love and freedom talk is just an excuse or ignorance .In this case is better do not react .Slava Ukraini !
