My son Sam's FAVORITE song. He was killed at 13yrs old. The 16th anniversary was April 11th...... I love you Sam. Love, Mom. ❤ 💋 hugs..... The lyrics of this song give me a feeling that Sam knew he was going to leave this world. Many strange things happened a couple weeks before he died. I believe the lyrics are Sam telling me he is explaining Heaven to me , and he is o.k. Sam was a very intuitive boy. He was kind, thoughtful, and treated EVERYONE the way he wanted to be treated. Sam had an old soul. He knew things. He was and is still an incredible child. And the best part, he was mine. All mine. ✌🙏👆💑🤘🤰.... My boy.

Hard isn't it . I like you also lost my son but he was quite a few years older than your boy when pancreatic cancer took him away from me. He was 47 so I had a chance to hang out for many years with him and listen to Pink Floyd together . Sorry for your loss I know what it's like and I listen to Pink Floyd now many times just to remember our Good Times. My son's ringtone on my cell phone was Comfortably Numb. Take care . T

It's actually pretty simple to see what the song is actually about. It's about how everything is a wonder, and there is mystery and amusement which we experience during our childhood. But as we grow up, we fall into the trap of society, just like everyone else. All the wonder is lost, beauty and appreciation of life is lost, and we face disappointment. I love this song, cause I share this philosophy with the band. It's a constant thought on my mind, and it's been put so beautifully in the song.

It’s that sense of longing that we understand even more as we age and see that nothing has quite filled the internal void. They express it so well. The last verse about a “hunger still unsatisfied” is haunting.

I haven't listened to any songs by Pink Floyd for quite a while, I've been exploring different genres and tons of other artists, however, this particular song will always have special place in my heart, that's why i try not to listen to it that much, i know it sounds weird but listening to stuff all over again, multiple times a day, makes songs not as special. Anyways, great song, great band. Cheers!
