As mention below "the official video" is a cut down radio version 🙁 So always go for studio album audio only unless it's a live performance😉 Finally, with tracks from The Dark Side of the Moon, Wish You Were Here or The Wall in particular, tracks transition directly into each other. So when you pick a single track don't panic if you get any sudden "cut-off" endings. These are designed to be listened to as "side 1" / "side 2" of the album😉

"hey you" is absolutely amazing!! tho I would recommend listening to their albums entirely since they tell a story that can really only be fully comprehended when listened to in order, especially "the wall", which is the album that "hey you" is on! 🥰

They're from England and came onto the scene in the late 60s with the Psychedelic movement of that time. But their lead song writer, Sad Barrett, after launching them into success with their first album "Pipers At The Gates Of Dawn" experienced a mental and emotional breakdown after a weekend of ingesting psychedelic drugs and was never the same. Syd was replaced by Gilmour and the band went into a rabbit hole of avant-garde progressive music for a number of years, always maintaining a following but never breaking thru as with the first album. But after enough experiments and time, you get what you are now hearing. Genius.

You’ll be surprised to hear some early 70s funk froM Pink Floyd. They did it all. Echoes, Shine On You Crazy Diamond, Wish You Were Here. You’re on the right path listening to the studio versions first. Once you see the live videos later, you will know the songs but your mind will be blown

A tip. Avoid any videos with Floyd, they're a distraction and often the track is cut, as it is here, you missed the best part of the solo!. Pink Floyd is about closing your eyes and sinking into the music! Anything visual is a distraction!

If you listen to the original studio/audio version of this song, instead of the video, you’ll hear the full guitar solo. The video cuts out 2/3 of that guitar solo. So follow that advice you mentioned at the start of this reaction: listen to the audio first before seeing the concert but it also applies to videos. Love your reactions, man. I just subscribed.

Pink Floyd formed in London (England) in the mid-sixties Sadly founding member Syd Barrett was dropped from the band suffering severe mental health issues and the effects of drug abuse. Syd was dearly loved and the album "Wish You Were Here" along with several other tracks are dedicated to, or are about Syd. He was replaced on lead guitar by David Gilmour. So the lineup became:- Roger Waters - Bass Guitar / Vocals / lyrics Dave Gilmour - Lead Guitar / Vocals Richard Wright - Keyboards / Vocals Nick Mason - Drums With various guest vocals most notable Claire Torry vocals on the track "The Great Gig in the Sky" 😎

Pink Floyd has lots of instrumentals in their music, but they have more to do with feel and emotion, and taking a Head journey, than funky. Oh, they do funky alright, but most of their elaborate spacey compositions, and layers of synthesizers, and guitars and sonic experimentation, is more of a cerebral ecstasy! It's head music mostly, man! Light up a bone and float away across the Galaxy with Pink Floyd!

LIVE vs Studio album.... With Pink Floyd alot of tracks were tried and refined LIVE and then when the guys were happy they did a final studio version 😉 Also (just like we did back in the day) have the lyrics to hand 😉 In terms of live sound quality..... This is Pink Floyd man.... Pink Floyd were perfectionists.... If they played live... It was going to be good😉 And when your ready, possibly the highest piece of musical art ever and the FUNKIEST groove😉 Pink Floyd "Echoes" (Part 1) live at Pompeii 1972 No Audience, No Lights, No Pyrotechnics and a Dave Gilmour with No Shirt

Here, I will just throw a lot of details and songs at you to save you some time as I'm pushing 50, studied music all my life, and STILL learn new reasons why Pink Floyd is great. Syd Barrett- guitar/vocals and founder(left after 2nd album due to severe mental illnesses), David Gilmore-guitar/vocals, Roger Waters- Bass/vocals (left after The Final Cut album), Richard Wright- piano, organ, keyboards/ vocals, Nick Mason-drums/percussion. Some Songs: "hey you", "us and them", "wish you were here", "shine on you crazy diamond", "have a cigar", "welcome to the machine", "comfortably numb", "high hopes", "great gig in the sky", "breathe", "another brick in the wall", "learning to fly", "echoes", "helpless", "set controls for the heart of the sun", "careful with the ax Eugene", ""eclipse", "mother", and a whole lot more greatness I can't think of in this moment. Enjoy!

Thank you for doing this reaction. The best way to react to "The Dark Side Of The Moon" is to do a Side A and Side B. The songs run into eachother on that album....when I had that album on LP in the 70's if you watched the needle going from one track to the next, in that little space between the songs on the LP music was playing while the needle was traveling through the space.

Pink Floyd live is studio quality. It is an experience to be immersed in. They are different to other bands. They are possibly one of the best bands ever to come to this world. This song is highly ironic. What they say compared to what they mean is diametrically opposed. Only way to go, blow everything up! Money is the root of all evil.

Yes, even if this was the radio cut instead of the album cut, not hate here: I love that you're getting to know them. It's only up from here--up to the album cut and on to live cuts. The band is amazing. Every song with depth (this one being about the way money makes us ignore each other, even though we all need it--just not in excess). Keep it up, sir!

Try and to stay away from music videos of them. Stick with the lp studio version. This video cuts out a major portion of the guitar solo in the middle :( Also it distracts from the musical vibe. Having said that you're definitely going to want to watch the live Pulse version of this song. They get down. Pink Floyd is a British progressive rock band been around just over 55 + years. Timeless!!
