I do a reaction to Pink Floyd 'On the Turning Away' from their live show Delicate Sound of Thunder
This was such a beautiful performance, the bass had such a deep tone, the drums were killer, the backing vocal were flawless and David's voice and solo were top notch. not much more to say
I hope you enjoy the video and please consider subscribing

I remember getting my hands on the "The Delicate Sound of Thunder" on cassette from a friend back in the late 80's and IMMEDIATELY COPYING IT. The tape is long gone, but the experience has never left!

David pulls the right string again with this solo. His guitar seems to add emphasis to the lyrics, allowing them to reach our souls. Add to this the sublime voices of the singers, and goosebumps spread all over your body. That's what makes Pink Floyd so different from other bands.

Gotta shout out to Margaret Taylor (goes by Machan Taylor now, I think) for that vocal exclamation point she added in the solo. I think it's a great touch.

Was that not the best rock guitar solo you have ever heard? I fell in love with it back in the late 1980s when I first heard it on VHS. They added another 3 or 4 minutes to the guitar solo from the VHS and DVD versions. Now it is out on Blu-ray, completely re-mastered in 2019 both in audio and video, and then reformatted to 16x9 aspect ration and 1080P. This is the best video and audio of Pink Floyd that we will ever have. The band has hung up their instruments now permanently.

Pink Floyd IS The Greatest Band Ever and Dark Side of the Moon is the Greatest album ever recorded, it's a masterpiece. I've seen Pink Floyd three times, the first was The Wall at the LA Sports Arena, 2/7/1980 in "Quadraphonic Sound". THEY ACTUALLY HAD AN AIRPLANE FLY FROM THE BACK OF THE ARENA, OVER THE CROWD AND CRASH INTO THE STAGE! The Second two times was the Pulse tour at the Rose Bowl 4/17/1994 and 4/18. I've seen Roger on his solo tours four times and Dave on five of his. I've seen the Aussie Floyd seven times and been blessed to be able afford seats in the first 20 rows for all of shows mentioned.

Great reaction! I love this song as well. As much as I enjoy the Delicate Sound Of Thunder performances, I prefer On the Turning Away live during the 1994 tour. The one from Foxboro on May 19 is a standout. As far as the MTV broadcast you're talking about it could be either October 20, 1994 (which is essentially PULSE) from London or it could be from The Omni in Atlanta, Georgia in 1987. Not sure the EXACT date though. Stay safe!

I was an80s kid and my parents LOVED Floyd. Delicate sound of thunder was Pulse before Pulse. My parents bought DSOT on VHS in ‘88 or so and we wore it out. Then Pulse came out on VHS around the end of ‘91 and dad bought that video…. We wore it out! They’re both epic in their own way and Pulse is definitely more of a grand scale but … DSOT is my favorite over the two because some songs like on the turning away, dogs of war, one slip also aren’t on Pulse. But my favorite part of DSOT is the singers. The black girl is the only one in both Pulse and DSOT. The other two aren’t and BLOW AWAY the other ladies in the pulse video by far. If you don’t believe me check out “The great gig in the sky “… Compare the Pulse girls and the DSOT girls and you’ll see there’s no comparison. So happy to see these epic videos that have been around for 30 years plus get the attention they deserve… I’ve seen them both 1 million times and they never get old… I just tell people watch the whole show… Whether it be DSOT or Pulse…. I just gotta watch the whole show. And I’m not sure but it was probably DSOT on MTV if it was late 80’s but Don’t quote me lol! Sorry so long!🤘🏻

I got my years mixed up… off the top of my head dad bought DSOT late 1991 at “The Wherehouse” ( A video store we bought and rented media at in the 80’s)… I remember because T2 was just released on VHS and dad wouldn’t rent it… Truth…Then Pulse came out like dec of ‘96 I’m thinking 🤔 Not sure but when it came out they were on it. That video got play nonstop in our house …Again… Sorry so long… I just wanted to straighten out my dates. It’s been a while.

one thing i note, at least to me...this is 1988. In 1996 during the Pulse tour, most of these same major players are still playing. This is why I believe the Pulse Live concerts were so on key with that.

The Division Bell tour (AKA: "Pulse" tour) was 1994, not 96... 😉 And yes on the 94 tour where the exactly same musicians. From the backing girls only Claudia Fontaine was on both tours 😀 R.I.P: Rick and Claudia 😥
