it's hard to choose between The Dark Side of the Moon and Animals... sometimes I think TDSOTM is better, and sometimes Animals is better. But one thing for sure: they both belong to the top 10 music albums of all time.

It’s amazing the first time you realize at one point in dogs the actual dog sounds are being imitated by a synthesizer. Soo cool. IMO their best album by far and that’s saying a lot.

The outro solo on Pigs is so angry. Reminds me of the bitter and angry feel of the outro solo on Comfortably Numb.

Fun fact 23:17 that sound is not a harmonica, it’s David on the guitar with a talk box and a whah pedal. That’s how all the pig sounds in this song were created.

The industrial building is Battersea Power Station, formerly a coal fired electricity generation plant adjacent to the River Thames. The building is still there but has been converted into a shopping centre. The pig tethered between the chimneys famously broke free and floated for some miles.

As someone who's been listening to this album since it came out I can attest that it ages very well. Dogs is one of the greatest rock songs of all time, it's certainly better than Stairway to Heaven or Bohemian Rhapsody, but it wasn't radio friendly so it doesn't get the attention. Pigs and Sheep are also brilliant. Animals is at least as good as the other big three, and therefore underrated because the others get more attention.

The most political PF album, after the very political "Animal Farm" by George Orwell. Dogs are business men. Pigs are the politicians. Sheep? Do your math. The most underrated PF album is The Final Cut, but its also the most bleak, heartbreaking and intimate portrait of Roger Waters, and I love it.

Dogs is one of the greatest songs of all time. Love to listen to the original Japanese CD (original mix), the Doug Sax mix from '94, the Guthrie mix from 2001, and the newest 2018 mix. They all are intersting. My favorite still is the Japanese record. ❤❤❤

Verse 1 is about CEOs and business tycoons slopping up the wealth. Verse 2 is about Margaret Thatcher, who Roger hated. The keywords here are "hatpin" bc she always wore one, "good fun with a hand gun" as there was a well known video of her being shown how to use one and she clearly enjoyed the feel of it. And verse 3 is about Mary Whitehouse and her puritanical views.
