The next song on the album is "Great Gig In The Sky" and it's a musical representation (no words) of a woman dying, then awakening to the fact she has died... the being made aware of the afterlife and fighting against her death and finally giving into her life ... after death. And it's Excellent.

My interpretation: All the Bells... you were just born. Heartbeat... it's the first and only thing you start to recognize. Slowly you come to the realization you're alive. And the words start "Kicking away the moments that make up a dull day" think of your youth... and that's how it flows forward in time with your life from here.

The Dark Side of The Moon is one of my favorite albums, it is Pink Floyd's masterpiece. Listen to the entire album, it is amazing.

It's gets deeper... after "tolling of the iron bell calls the faithful to their knees to hear the softly spoken magic spell" the album goes into "The Great Gig in the Sky" Possibly the deepest dive into the emotions of Death you will ever hear.

Hi Faye. Huge fan of both you and Pink Floyd. Their lyrics are very deep and full of metaphor and meaning. This song to me speaks of the futility of chasing things of this world with the precious little time we have here. Most important is to make others lives better, love others and enjoy the time we have because it is all too fleeting. One of my all time Floyd favorites. LUV U !!!!!!!!

Great progressive rock band starting in the 60's. They are one of the best-selling music artists of all time. "Wish You Were Here", "The Dark Side Of The Moon" & "The Wall" are among the best-selling albums of all time. They have a huge library of music. Some of their big hits were "See Emily Play", "Money", "Time", "Echoes", "Us & Them", "Another Brick In The Wall, Part 2", "Not Now John", "Comfortably Numb", "On The Turning Away", "High Hopes" etc. I remember going to the Planetarium to watch laser light shows set to their music.

Way back when, my girlfriend and I would let "Dark Side of the Moon" play over and over on loop. And if we ever happened to doze off, the bells at the beginning of this song would wake us up! Gilmour's guitar work on this song slays. The whole album is a masterpiece of the twentieth century.

Not bells and Heartbeat at the start. It's meant to represent Clocks chiming and a clock ticking - which in this digital age are sounds that are not as common. The title 'Time' also is relevant.

There's is a "heart beat" mixed in behind the clocks ticking before the chimes / alarms go off.

Roger Waters father died in the war. He was sad and alone growing up. Even thoughts of suicide “Plans that either come to naught or half a page of scribbled lines” All he hoped for seemed to have been a waste of time to him. In fact to would be a them in much of Waters music. The Wall, the Final Cut ect…. his music will make the most sense if you listen to the whole album.
