Time is a song by the English progressive rock band Pink Floyd. It is included as the fourth track on their eighth album The Dark Side of the Moon (1973) and was released as a single in the United States. Bassist Roger Waters wrote the lyrics. Keyboardist Richard Wright shares lead vocals (his last until "Wearing the Inside Out" on The Division Bell) alongside guitarist David Gilmour.
Pink Floyd are an English rock band formed in London in 1965. Gaining an early following as one of the first British psychedelic groups, they were distinguished by their extended compositions, sonic experimentation, philosophical lyrics and elaborate live shows. They became a leading band of the progressive rock genre, cited by some as the greatest progressive rock band of all time.

Yeah, I was 16 the first time I got insanely depressed by it. Guess what, nobody told me when to run and I missed the starting gun too! I guess it is the same for most of you guys. That's Floyd for you. Poignant stuff about the human condition. In hindsight, I should never have let 20 something angry Roger shape my life as much as he did. Damned Hampton's Champagne Socialist :)

At some point the lesson is learned, regardless: time is important and we have a limited amount of it. No one is any less than anyone else because the cosmic circumstances were such that the only way you'd have learned this lesson is from experience. For this quote to matter to you now is to have the blindfold pulled off - you gained wisdom, you know more about life now than you did before.

The lyrics are so true. Didn't understand them when I was a kid, but now it almost makes you cry. All you little 15 and 20 (even 30) year old people, you better enjoy what you have. I just turned 50 and running trying to catch up with the sun everyday...because every day that I don't I'm shorter of breath and one day closer to death... you are right, time is the one thing no one can escape... we have so much of it and waste it so effortlessly when we're young and now it runs thru my fingers faster and faster each day. Oh my young friend, I must disagree. Time is completely relative. There is an atomic clock in Denver Colorado and in Greenwich UK and if you have studied this phenomenon at all time moves more slowly at higher elevations and when you age time accelerates you will recognize this fact as you grow older

This used to be my alarm clock. Even my mom liked it. She was 15 in England, trapped by the war during the blitz. "Hanging on in quiet desperation is the English way" I saw them at Roosevelt Stadium in 1973 in Jersey. Love this band.

@@ace-of-space the same place as you hon ahahahah yup I grew up in Bayonne lmao you were 14 wow idk I’m almost 66 now but we all crashed the gates of course and I found myself smoking angel n up in the top of the stadium on the Bach where the huge speakers were then that ticket came out woow awesome. Did you live in Bayonne or jc ? So nice to share the times with you you were alittle young hon but sometimes we all have to grow up fast where we once lived right n the streets were the best lesson in life

I remember listening to this song on my clock radio as a kid in the mid 70s. I didn’t comprehend the lyrics at that time, but the vibe enchanted me. Being 6-7 years old, that says a lot. I’m 54 now, and listening to this song tonight takes me back to my bedroom and that clock radio. We are all eternal souls, even though we are as vapors on the earth.

About to turn 20, crazy even typing it out….feel like I’ve wasted so much. Thinking it’d take forever to be an adult, but the years went in a blink of an eye. I know there’s more to look forward to, but I can’t get back what i threw away, horrible feeling.
