I came here for the same comment. Not sure how to do it best streaming but Pink Floyd Albums needs to be done in their entirety. Not for us but for us but for you. Us and Them was cut off early. There is another music section that leads into the climax of the album "Brain Damage / Eclipse". Dark Side of the Moon, Wish you Were Here, The Division Bell, and The Wall (movie) are all designed to be taken in one setting. If you are worried about copyright you could just stream your reaction and not the content. We can play the content on our side. Just tell us when to push play. Speaking pushing play at the right time. Dark Side of the moon lines up with perfectly with The Wizard of Oz if you sync them up right. The Dark Side of Oz kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hNp1q7l70c2pc2Q.html

The critical evaluations are from decades long professional music critics, contained within the co- produced ( Isis/Eagle Rock review), called Classic Albums, from 2006. Directed by Mathew Longfellow/ UK. Content licensed exclusively to Eagle Rock Entertainment Lmd from 2003 Pink Floyd Music Limited. Now for who. His name is Robert Sandall, critic, journalist and broadcaster, UK. This one album has accounted for more than 200 million in sales worldwide. Some estimates speculate closer to 300. It spent a record 741 weeks, or almost14 years on the Billboard Charts. However, the presentation of, Album of the 20th Century, was given to the band Eagles, ( not, The Eagles) for their compilation called, Greatest Hits. By the way, this can all be found on the Google Machine. Regards

Us and them is just general. That's why the verse is followed up with "me" and "you" and the note that it isn't want we would choose to do. It's the idea that you and I can sit down and figure shit out, but when you start to get groups - gangs or governments - the "me" and "you" gets subsumed.

"It just ends like that?" The Dark Side of the Moon album is intended to be listened to from front to back, in order, without interruption. So the songs flow from one into the next without defined starting and stopping points. That's why it's a little jarring to listen to anything from the album in isolation; the beginnings and endings seem random.

The album that this song is from is "Dark Side of the Moon", a concept album where the theme is the human condition. This song specifically is about conflict, be it between nations (wars), classes (rich vs. poor), or individuals. Other songs on the album have themes of aging, death, greed, and mental illness. The talking that you heard at the very beginning was the ending of the song that immediately precedes "Us and Them" on the album, as most of the tracks bleed into the next. I recommend, as others have commented, that you listen to the entire album in one sitting, because that's how the band intended it and how it's best appreciated.

I was only 12 when this album came out. I was with my older brother playing basketball at a buddies place when someone in the house put this album on the turntable and I was mesmerized. It's funny how a person can remember past events and how it makes one feel when they hear a certain song. I'm 61 now and I still listen to this album. Imo, the whole album is one of the greatest musical masterpieces of the 20th century. There's simply nothing like it. All their music is worth a listen.

One of the cooler moments of a Pink Floyd concert is when they played this tune. Everybody was standing up for the first 4 or 5 songs of the show. They start playing “Us And Them” and everyone sat down in an orderly fashion starting with the front row. It was a mellow moment and cool to see

Timeless poetry such as this has many levels of meaning. Laid out before us by the artist so succinctly, yet so sublime. All of us can see the reference to the nature of war, its cruelty, and futility. However, I believe there is a more primal meaning to these words. It's more about human nature, rather than the nature of war. The “Us and Them” verse refers to how groups (tribes) of humans can be cruel to one another, but as individuals we like to think we would not act this way. The “Black and Blue” verse refers to how, from the beginning of time and until its end, individuals are drawn to congregate and called to war. We like to think that as individuals we are called to war by our dehumanized leaders with their wicked words. The “Down and Out” verse is the clincher that exposes one cruel aspect of human nature, greed. The greed of nations cause war and we can't deny that is what the fighting is all about. Yet, in our personal lives, our greed can blind us to the suffering of the needy within our own society with people dying for the price of tea and a slice.

Piggybacking off of Lex’s “story” about smoking with her roommate, in a onesie, and eating cheese, just contemplating life. I traveled to Gainesville to visit a buddy in college in ‘96, and we smoked a ton. I was sitting in his room in a loft, and this song was playing. I melted into the coach, and my entire life played out in my head in the most calming way possible. I was on a magic carpet at times just floating through different stages of time, and it got to the point that I was convinced if I open the blinds to his window, I would be starting out a window of my high school in NY. It was awesome. This song is just so beautiful in every way, stoned or sober, but on another level when you introduce the devils lettuce. Top 5 songs for me to go to when extremely high.

The Dark Side of the Moon is one of the greatest albums ever made. It never ages, and it was years before its time. It is designed to be listened to from beginning to end. It is profound, timeless, beautiful, dark, and challenging all at once. It evokes emotions and feelings, thoughts of life and death, love and loss, and madness. An extraordinary feat. I tire of even the best albums, I have to leave a long time between listens... but not this. The music, the lyrics, the vocal interjections, the experimentation. It is life- and death-affirming.

Hard to just stop songs that all blend together. The end of Money was what you heard at the start (with the voices etc) Any colour you like was next. This isn’t a “one song” listen. Pink Floyd may have HITS but not their intention. Each song from each album is part of a puzzle or story. Good work in working what you feel the song is about. What you just heard is from it, the ebb and flow of this album is mind blowing, I still smoke a fat one for Floyd and have for over 50 years, they are musical geniuses in the top 5 of any musical act in human experience. Also experience Wish You Were Here and Animals all the way through, for the Wall, watch the movie. The journeys of a lifetime await you right on your couch! Enjoy. 🎸 By the way that song goes right into the next, they all do...

I would suggest you guys listen to the wall many times through to end before watching the movie. Listening will give you your own mental imagery. Once you watch the movie your own mental imagery is likely to be replaced. That’s what happened to me anyway. I don’t regret watching the movie, it’s great. But you want to have your own unique experience visually first. At least I’m glad I did. Wish I could remember what it was…

The first verse is about going to war, how on the front line we don’t get much chance to communicate with one another, because someone else has decided that we shouldn’t. The second verse is about civil liberties, racism, and color prejudice. The last verse is about passing a tramp in the street and not helping.
