I was caffeine free for two months and relapsed on a recent vacation and my body completely rejected it. I had a terrible migraine. It was definitely the kick in the head I needed to stay away from it forever. I clearly see the difference of my ability to function throughout the day. I am so much more productive and less tired without it. All caffeine does is temporarily shock your adrenal glands which lessens their ability to function properly. I spent too much of my life in fight or flight mode already and caffeine was just wreaking havoc on my body in ways I didn't even realize until now.

Are you still going strong? I'm on day 3 of no caffeine and I'm feeling great. Although, I did take a week to taper off, and I was having between 80 - 240 mg a day before that (1 to 3 cups of coffee).

I quit caffeine back in 2019 and it was the best decision ever. Haven’t had any alcohol since October 2021 and quit vaping at the beginning of the year. Now that I haven’t had any of those things in several months I feel great! I can clearly see how harmful caffeine was to my body. The biggest struggle I have now is food. I struggle with finding balance and not eating all the processed unhealthy things. I’m trying. Good look to you! 💚

For people who want the taste/polyphenols of coffee without the caffeine, I highly recommend Swiss Water Process decaf. It’s the only zero chemical decaffeination process and it renders the coffee 99% caffeine free. 👍🏼

Hi Christine, you look amazing! I've been drinking coffee since high school and thanks to the coffee chains I graduated to lattes. About 7 years ago I noticed mild heart palpitations and those weird heart flips. I went to a cardiologist and was given a small monitor for a week. It came back fine but I decided to get off caffeine...those headaches were torture for about a week. I love coffee so I drink mild decaf coffees and I haven't had any issues.

Love this video! Years ago in my 30’s I got the worst headache of my life! No amount of Exedrine helped, ice packs were useless, hydrating didn’t work and when I was informed that the cause was that I skipped a day of coffee I was furious! I rarely had a cup a day and it was more of a “celebrate the morning”kind of thing in my Princess House Crystal coffee mug complete with a variety of flavorings, whipped topping and sprinkles! I often only drank the top half without finishing the whole cup! I decided then and there that nothing would have it’s hooks in me like that. Not wanting to be one of those people who can’t function without their caffeine. You know, just in case I got stuck in an elevator for days with a group of people who I’m sure wouldn’t want to hear me whine and complain! Unlikely to happen but you never know! I’ll never forget the headaches and for that reason alone I would never recommend quitting cold turkey! Definitely taper off. I went for years without anything but water, caffeine free herb tea or fresh juice in the mornings. I now drink Teecino a few times a week which looks and brews like coffee and is often used to help people reduce or eliminate their caffeine intake. It’s acid free, tastes good with my superfood creamer and homegrown stevia and I can have as much as I want without feeling the jitters or in the evening without worrying about it keeping me awake. I sleep well, eat well, meditate, have plenty of energy, have started cold showers and Wim Hof Method breathing sessions, did 70 pushups yesterday, started practicing memorization exercises, speed reading (thx JimKwik!) and intend to celebrate 60 years in May as the best I’ve ever been! Good luck to those of you who are setting healthy goals for yourself! You’re worth it!

It’s so interesting that your video was recommended to me: Yesterday I had some nausea the whole day and was wondering what caused it. Than I realized I drank a certain coffee in the morning which is stronger than I usually have (I have coffee around 2-3 times a week). It made me remember that I once had a bad panic attack due to too much caffeine. My body has a slow metabolism with coffee - just like yours, and I also have the restless leg syndrome. For me I drink coffee in the morning, just as a drink with my breakfast but I will start drinking something now without caffeine. Your video really opened up my eyes cause it made me realize that lots of the symptoms I’ve experienced actually due to the coffee I drank. Therefore thank you for your video and the eye opener 🙏💜

I'm just completely quitting caffeine, it is causing all matter of nasty side effects I don't want in my life - restlessness, not sleeping well, headaches, jittiyness, shakes, palpitations, heavy legs and feet due to constricted blood flow. I drink a lot and have been since very young, I don't want it in my life no more the caffeine, so have got rid of all coffee, chocolate and soda and energy drinks. I believe it too was blocking my iron levels and vitamins minerals, got to keep on track staying healthy, got to be strong, have slipped back, but no more, got to cut out alcohol too, that's no good. Yep withdrawal is no joke. When I was in my 20's I lost my job. When I got new one pay day was 3 weeks away. I had 0 money for food but as luck would have it someone had set a HUGE (like 10 gallon) container of animal crackers on the breakroom table so everyday I'd make a cup of free coffee (black) and scooped up a hand full of animal crackers. Same for lunch...and before I went home I grabbed a handful more for dinner. Fast forward 3 weeks to payday. I was soooo excited to eat a meal, but a few hours after lunch my hands started shaking so badly I could barely write. I was like really, a few hours without coffee and THIS happens!!???😕 And let's not even talk about how many days I had a headache🤕

Normally if I have it on a full stomach, and sip it slowly over a couple hours I am OK with it. I am a very light and occasional coffee drinker and occasionally I like chocolate smoothies with bananas and ice and vanilla. But I really don't want to become a heavy coffee drinker so I might stop too, there's a drink called chicory here in France which is plant based and caffeine free might try that occasionally when I want some coffee taste. Stopping chocolate powder in my banana smoothies might be harder for me I think haha but maybe make them ever less often to start with. I didn't know that caffeine interfered with nutrition and vitamine D absorption that's a big no no for me too. Thanks for sharing this Christine 🤍🤍

Thanks for sharing, I went through a phase a few months ago where I had a few strong hot chocolates made with cocoa every day and I started getting pins and needles in my body, really painful ones, and twitches in my legs. Caffeine definitely doesn't suit me.

I quit coffee this year too it was sooo hard quitting I was very addicted to my morning coffee. Glad you were able to spot the pattern and break it! For me it’s completely reduced migranes and anxiety I had that was lingering after cleaning up my diet.

I have been a caffeine junkie majority of my life. I have only given it up twice, both times 30days. I had major withdrawals. But after the first two weeks I felt amazing. I slept great, I felt no inflammation, and I had more energy. Recently I was told I was lacking vitamin D along with my low iron. Go figure I was told to just take more supplements instead of finding the cause. I had no idea caffeine was a factor in that. I recently had a bad inflammation flare up that required two cortisone shots in my shoulder. I had decided to quit the caffeine because of that. And this video just confirmed that I’m making the right choice.

I quit energy drinks one year ago, almost. I was having 2/3 per day. So I did have a headache as a symptom for 3 days straight. I didn’t quit coffee but my consumption has increased over winter. And I know that if I have coffee after 4 o clock I won’t get to sleep easily or I’ll wake up in the night. Soooo I bought a juicer and I’m replacing my morning coffee with a juice. Starting tomorrow!! I’m expecting some headaches but maybe it won’t be as bad as the energy drink withdrawals. 🤞 I’m hoping this with be a beneficial change. 🍎 🥕 🍈 🍏🍐🍊🍑🍍🥥🥒🥑🥭 Thanks Christine for all your research 😍😃😇

Hello, I too have these sensations in my fingers! For maybe a year or two now, it's been very weird, sometimes it's one finger, sometimes several, the tip of the finger or in the middle, it's a mix between numbness, tingling, sometimes I have had this on my face until i stopped the dark chocolate, but i still got it on my fingers with the coffee. It's probably vasoconstriction yes, for five six years I have had problems with my eyes, they are heavy as if I hadn't slept, red, a little swollen and smaller, very sensitive to light, and as if I had dust or sand in it it's very disturbing and it happens every day, it disappears after stopping the caffeine, I thought of an allergy but a doctor also told me about vasoconstriction, it's mad ! We are lucky to know the culprit and to listen to his body, to make connections Coffee gives me LPR (silent reflux), sometimes I have a little stomach ache and at the same time I get little pimples and red "lines" like little scratches on my belly skin in the same place, c is really weird! And of course, anxiety, fatigue, teeth, itchy hair, just to name a few lol

I've never been a coffee drinker but I am a Coke drinker! I have a physical coming up in June so I am going to give it up starting May 1st, I've done this before and unfortunately always went back to it. For me drinking more water specifically ice water helps with the headache and tiredness.

I quit caffeine completely recently and feel better even on a WFPB diet! I got off black english tea, which has a few mg of caffeine still, and diet coke. Moved to fruit teas, barley/chicory drinks and balsamic vinegar + club soda with sweener. The coffee subs taste very similar to coffee with my favorite being Bambu which is chicory, barley, wheat and figs (tastes soo nice and smooth). For me, coffee gave me indigestion and raised blood pressure too much for it to be healthy. I think most should avoid caffeine completely

I am 39 and have been drinking coffee since I was 13 or 14. I have 3-5 cups of black coffee each day. The only thing I have noticed is that I get a bad headache if I forget to have my morning coffee due to being in a hurry.

This was interesting. I've felt like I should quit caffeine but have been afraid of the side effects. I have 3 cups a day. I've tried to quit before and had flu like symptoms and got constipated. The Daily juicing would help with that I'm sure. I also notice B.O. and teeth grinding with caffeine. You have inspired me to try again and to just know I'll have the side effects. I think I'll cut back and wean off so it's gentler this time. I am a full time caretaker to husband with Parkinson's and can't be out of commission. So weird. I follow lots of vegan blogs and so far haven't seen any videos on caffeine or quitting caffeine. Thanks a lot! I'm inspired and excited to try again.

I want to quit caffeine because I suffer from anxiety and insomnia but it's been soo difficult to do so. Not only do I love the taste of coffee but I also love that instant boost to my mood that I get from it. This week I started to do 3/4 decaf 1/4 regular coffee and I feel a tremendous change in the quality of sleep that I am getting. I've tried quitting cold turkey but I couldn't manage the withdrawal symptoms. I think this is a good balance for me at least for now.

I used to be really addicted to coffee. Never actually liked the taste of it and had a lot of negative side effects from it (sleep problems, stomach irritation, blood circulation issues, caffeine jitters, terrible energy crashes and so on) but still struggled giving up the drink. It took me about a decade of on and off struggle before I was able to finally quit it completely. Now I have been coffee free for a couple of years and I don`t even miss it anymore. My life is so much better without it! However I am still drinking green tea which although being much gentler on my body is still causing some of the same effects on my health as coffee did. Tea contains caffeine too and I just don`t do that well with it. So I am trying to cut back on that too this year. Has been a loooong journey for me battling the caffeine addiction.

OK, something steered me towards this video. Maybe it was because I was on my second up of coffee. So, I'm giving up 2/3 of that second cup. I suffer from the restless legs too and finally was given a med that helped. I can relate to the rubbing the feet together, but the issue is that as soon as you stop, the uncomfortable feeling returns. I'm not a big coffee drinker, usually just the 2 cups (breakfast blend) which is usually very early 5:00 a.m. when my Granddaughters are in school. Since I slept late today, the second cup I was having at 2:00 p.m. - too late. I'm going to give this a try. I've had juicers, but always felt bad that it took so much produce to make one glass and I don't have an option for getting rid of the scraps. That sunrise juice looks delish and hopefully it could replace my love of coffee.
