Perhaps the Page Number video tutorial maybe useful - kzfaq.info/get/bejne/rNiWoJSIrKmtg3U.html If you place a page number field onto a master page, you can then apply that master page to your document pages. The page number will then automatically update. Then using the Section Manager, you can create sections to start or restart your page numbering. Finally you can bring the page number master page to the top of the layer stack. This will display the page number above any images you may have your page. .

Hi @Katm1884, Thank you for your question. In the video I'm recording on a Mac and I use the keyboard shortcut CMD + TAB to switch to the next application. The next application just so happens to be Pages. Holding command and pressing shift will cycle through my open applications. Alternatively if I've misunderstood and you are instead after the Notes Panel in Affinity Publisher. You can bring up the Notes Panel by going to Window> scrolling down to References, and then selecting Notes. Hope this helps.
