The writer of Doma is none other than Natsuko Ishikawa who wrote the rogue, alchemist, Coils of Bahamut, Dark Knight, Crystal Tower, 3.2, 3.4, Shadowbringers and Endwalker. She also wrote the Coerthas stuff in ARR as well, so basically she wrote Haurchefant. Basically almost every good thing in the game is written by her.

Underrated and overhated is right. Stormblood has very good portions, very good gameplay content, and the post stormblood story peaks so hard. The only issue is that it has some really slow points in the story, and primarily the Ala Mhigo side. Lyse also gets too much hate as she's supposed to be a growing character through it. At the same time though i don't think her character was handled the best way regardless.

Going from ARR to HW was like the jump from 480p to HD People remember it more fondly because of that

I don’t hate Stormblood, it’s just my least favorite of the 4 expansions. Which isn’t saying much. I think a lot of people would fall under this, we’re just not as loud as the true Stormblood haters.

That is a gremlin and it has a move called “bad mouth” which puts misery debuff on u. U can get rid of it by having sb else /comfort you. Can try it in gubal library or holminster switch. :3

Stormblood has the auspices trial series, the omega raids, and the ivalice alliance raids. Any story shortcomings are more than made up for with the absolute banger content. I think as a whole it's my favourite expansion, even though I liked the story of all the other ones more.

For me, the most disappointing thing about Stormblood was the hype I had going in for the Ala Mhigo arc. They set it up so well in 3.5, and I felt like all of the buildup with the Ala Mhigan characters (Raubahn, Yda/Lyse, Little Ala Mhigo) was going to finally pay off, as well as the tensions between the Garlean Empire and the Eorzean Alliance finally breaking out into all-out war. But I felt that the Ala Mhigo storyline didn't really pay any of that off in a satisfying way. All of the good stuff in Stormblood was in Doma, which was all well and good, but the Ala Mhigo arc was such a letdown....

The best thing about all of the FFXIV trailers is that they are amazing upon reveal and really hype you up for the game, and then the game lives up to the hype, and then, when you finish the expansion and watch the trailers again while understanding all of the context behind every scene, they are even better.

God the Shadowbringers trailer and theme just brings a surge of emotion AUGH SO GOOOOD

Stormblood was good. I think narratively it just came between two great expansions and got a little overshadowed, but I think most people enjoyed it.

I 100% felt the same was as him.. just didn’t want it to finish. I took my time and only just finished. Words can’t describe how I feel. I’m a boomer. I cried. It just gets better and better. It breaks your heart, makes you laugh out loud and knocks you for six in a regular basis

Stormblood brought so much great gameplay additions. The Trials were some brilliant tests and changes throughout- really pushed the waters of what the standard bosses offered- which paved nicely into Shadowbringers.

I agree Stormblood was amazing and is underrated. for me it was epic as HW but on an ARR speed that how I see it. Even ARR I consider as a hole plot holding up with other xpac since you realize how much it set the ground for everything that comes, is a strong foundation imo that you appreciate more and more as you progress trough the journey once you finish EW you are happy how ARR was, at least that how it was for me ^^

What I love about Stormblood is the great exploration into different nations, their struggles, issues, and cultures. I love how nationalism is a big theme in SB and I think it’s themes are more interesting than anything in Heavensward.

That creature talking in the cutscene is a mob I think you first come across in the ARR dungeons, Lost City of Amdapor. Calls you names and talks smack at you.

ARR > HW > StB > ShB > EW imo. i liked stormblood way more than heavensward. not that hw is bad, its amazing. stormblood just felt very grand for me. i like fantasy revolution plots, exploring new continents and cultures, that kind of stuff

fun story I started in ARR but technically only really started playing near the end of HW... I've been an expansion behind up until now. Savor the journey, go through every nook and cranny and enjoy :)

All the expansions had their strengths and weaknesses. However, the weak parts were few and far between across the board. The whole journey through each one has been a wonder and a joy to experience.

Post-SB and SB raid/trial/dungeon mechanics are top notch. I really enjoyed the expansion. Pint has a good take since Ishikawa wrote the Doma Arc and the next expansions.

Finally someone who understands ♡ Stormblood really doesn't deserve the hate it gets. I think it suffered narratively from the Doma/Ala Mhigo split (and the fact that everyone was sick and tired of angry Ala Mhigans doing something stupid at this point) but the highs were much higher than Heavensward's, and not ONLY the Yotsuyu patch. I think Heavensward in part is so popular because it was such a big upgrade from ARR, so it left a big impression. Plus the whole "dragons and gothic architecture and let's kill the church" themes just being generally more popular with a lot of people.

Makes me feel acknowledged to hear you talk about not wanting to rush thru each expansion & you want to enjoy the story. Those who make decision to race thru the game, & look they are already racing thru another game, what next? Its OK if that's their enjoyment in gaming. I linger with FFXIV as this game gives me the depths of game play I want into, making new friends.

Dark Knight was a Heavensward reveal, not Shadowbringers. Dancer and Gunbreaker were the job reveals for Shadowbringers.

Actually the memory of my time reaching Shadowbringers is still vivid in my mind, one month and a half after the fact. I was SO HYPED UP! I was grinning the entire time. I couldn't believe I'd reached Shadowbringers. I'm now officially done with the story of Shadowbringers (finished 5.3 yesterday) and MAN did I love my time in this expansion SO MUCH! After Stormblood failed to impress me (writing aside, I didn't like Stormblood for a great many reasons, but it can be summed up in a few words: Lyse, Garleans and too long) Shadowbringers was indeed the perfect story I craved (the 5.1-5.3 story didn't really hold a candle to the story of 5.0 in terms of engagement, but the payoff for it was great). Now I'm in pre-Endwalker and I still can't believe it O.o. I wanna go back and redo Shadowbringers in NG+ (yes, even if it means going through the main story of Stormblood AGAIN, so I can experience the Shadowbringers build up).

The volume is really weird. The music is super loud but I can't hear the dialogue at all.

If you don't cry at particular points coming up between here and the end, you are inhuman. At this point, there are certain scenes I pull up just for a good cry.

Stormblood's only problem is that the 3.0 questline has bad pacing at the beginning and has a kind of weak ending. Being able to play through 3.0-3.3 in one sitting without having to wait massively improves the experience imo EDIT: Also I find it very interesting how both Preach and Pint thought Shadowbringers was going to be a Draenor time travel type expansion.

The only thing I hear people "hate" about Stormblood is Lyse. Other than that, I just think it's stretched too thin.

Its not that people think Stormblood is bad. It's just comparatively worse than the other expacs. On its own it still runs laps around most other jrpg stories.

I've been spouting the good word of Stormblood for YEARS now! I've replayed through the entire game many times now on many different characters and for me it's the highs that I really remember and want to re-live. Stormblood had way more of those memorable highs than Heavensward IMO and Shadowbringers blows them both out of the water in every regard.

I loved the dungeons/trials/raids of stormblood. I did not care for the story at all. With every alt I've taken through it, it's just been such a slog going through that story. The rest of the content was A+ though.
