Pinto Mountain Hike: A Rocky Mountain Adventure
🥾 Trail Details:
Length: 9.4 km on my Garmin
Elevation Gain: 920 m
Difficulty: Moderate to hard hike with very minimal scrambling
Completion Time: 3h48
🌟 Highlights:
Scenic Views: Most of the route is exposed, offering breathtaking vistas along the way to the summit.
Dog-Friendly: Bring your furry companion! Dogs are welcome but must be on a leash despite the fact that most of the dogs we met were loose
Switchbacks: The trail features well-maintained switchbacks, making it accessible for hikers of varying skill levels.
Amazing Views: From the summit, soak in panoramic vistas across the Rockies to the east and west, overlooking the Columbia Valley and the Purcell Mountains.
🚗 Access to Trailhead:
If you’re coming from the north, follow Google Maps to Copper Road, then Windermere Loop Road.
Look for the sign directing you left to the Pinto Mountain Recreation trail.
Keep an eye out for mining areas-you’re on the right track!
An AWD vehicle is recommended due to the loose gravel road and deep erosion stripe along the way.
