I prefer Bishop Sheen's explanation. Christ was not "lost." He knew where He was. Mary and Joseph had lost him. It's the closest thing our Lady could experience to relate to us being being in sin.

I had an apparition that was similarly described as the transfiguration whose light was so intense I could not look directly at it. A voice spoke , either externally or internally , saying why are you distressed , I am with you always. After my life turned around and I had a peace and calm Id never ever known before.

The Luminous Mysteries neither add to nor subtract from the Deposit Of The Faith. All are in the Gospels. Luminous Mysteries 1. Baptism of Jesus 2. Miracle at Cana 3. Proc Kingdom of God 4. The Transfiguration 5. Inst of Eucharist Each is instructive. Jesus consents to be baptized in an act of reverence to the Father. He executes the Miracle At Cana in an act of honoring his mother as any pious son should and would if he could. He proclaims the Kingdom Of God throughout his public ministry. He was transformed on Mount Tabor before Peter, James and John. He established the Eucharist on the night before his passion. None of this should be controversial. Adding to the ancient practice of prayer through the most Holy Rosary is what set people's teeth on edge. I admit to being disturbed by Pope Joh Paul II making this addition. Now, I find they give me fresh insights into the Gospels.

According to a talk I listened to , I think by an FSSP priest, the addition/suggestion of the luminous mysteries caused a revival in the practice of the rosary for a ton of Catholics. Even if one doesn’t like the luminous, or feels it ‘ruins the symbolism’ I will ask: is it better to pray the rosary with the luminous, or not to pray it at all? Personally, I’ll do them sometimes as an extra

Our Catholic faith is incredibly rich. Try praying a full rosary including the luminous mysteries just once. It's not diabolical, its nothing to be alarmed about, its not even really a "change." It is an enriching experience. We should not be like the Pharisees and Sadducees.
@ochem123
@ochem123 Жыл бұрын
We should not be like the Pharisees and Sadducees; we also should not be like the gnostics. The Pharisees and the Sadducees were blind, but they weren’t heretics. The Luminous mysteries interrupt the pattern set forth by Our Lady. The Marian Psalter (Latin: Rosarium) is about the queenship of Mary. It’s about recognizing the joys, sorrows, and glories of Our Blessed Virgin. Much of that includes her interaction with Our Lord. It was given to St. Dominic because recognition of Our Lady had fallen and we need that reminder. There are 150 Angelic Salutations, one for each of the 150 psalms. The Luminous mysteries distract from the Rosary in even more ways unmentioned. If I stuck 25 extra Lord’s Prayers, a novena to the infant Jesus, and a Litany of the Saints embedded in my routine Rosary, is it still primarily about Mary? This is the problem with the Luminous mysteries. More is not necessarily better. God bless you ♥️

I don't like currently popular music and I find talk radio less entertaining and more stress inducing than several years ago. Therefor, I don't rea,ly need the car radio. It was off for nearly the entire trip. I have adopted the practice of praying the Rosary on long car trips. During the five hour drive to visit my sister, I pray all 4 sets of Mysteries. I have generally prayed each set of Mysteries separately with pauses between. During the return drive of the most recent such trip, I prayed them all in a continuous stream. I do not race through the prayers, either. It takes me approximately 25 to 35 minutes to say the introductory prayers, 5 decades and the conc,using prayers. I have heard others say it takes them 12 to 15 minutes for the same Rosary. Perhaps I would go faster if I prayed all 20 decades every day but I don't know as speed in unimportant to me in this context. I enjoyed fresh insights into nearly every Mystery so that is the way I shall pray the Rosary on any future trip... all four sets of Mysteries together.

I only last year became catholic and started praying the Rosary. I prefer keeping it simple by praying the original 3 sets of mysteries, though this does give disproportionate attention to the Glorious Mysteries. All the mysteries of Christ save. He saves in His baptism and in his Resurrection. But think of all the mysteries we don't meditate on, even with the Luminous. Every little miracle and parable. I prefer narrowing it down to His Incarnation, Passion, Resurrection, and the other mysteries involved in the traditional way. After all, that's kinda what we do in Mass.

If JPII didn't know what would happen after all of the distortion and degeneration after Vatican II, I would question his intelligence. He should have just introduced it as a separate Chaplet and left the Rosary intact. JPII was a much more likable version of Francis but they both were of the same mind. That's why JPII elevated him in the first place along with all of the other destroyer-bishops during his reign.

@AprendeMovimiento
@AprendeMovimiento Жыл бұрын
@@Brian17177 why is it always a "gotcha" kinda conversation, Praying the Jesus Prayer or the 150 psalms on a knotted rope is a long standing tradition, the praying of 150 Hail Mary's was a tradition that came even before the apparition of our Lady to Saint Dominic, it was also called the Marian Psalter because instead of praying the 150 psalms they would pray the 150 Hail Mary's, St. JPII Didn't turn the Rosary into an obligatory 200 Hail Mary's he gave that devotion as optional because he saw fitting to do so. The 15 Mysteries do not only fit with the 150 Psalms but also with time and days of the week, first Christ comes, then he dies, then he resurrects, with the Luminous mysteries you go from resurrection (glorious on Wed) to his earthly life on Thu. It only fits with Thursday as the day of the institution of the Eucharist but it doesn't make sense chronologically, it should go, Joyful, Luminous, Sorrowful, Glorious, but if you do that you get Joyful Fridays, which is not proper. I still believe it should be as St, JPII said, Optional and a different added chaplet.

Since I came back to the diocese, I decided to pray the Luminous mysteries again and I am so grateful for the insights into Christ's life that I have received. There's more. There's also the three crowns for the three mysteries. Another thing is that the number of fish that broke the net in John 21:11 is the full number of Hail Marys in a Rosary. There were 153 fish. 150 for all the Hail Marys in the three mysteries + 3 Hail Marys for Faith, Hope, and Charity. To add to the Rosary is to say that Mary's instructions weren't good enough. There's nothing against the Faith in the Luminous mysteries, but they should not be said because of John Paul II. He was the man who led the interreligious Assisi World prayer meeting in 1986. He was a complete apostate. He praised all the false religions created by the devil. I recommend watching the video, "Apocalypse Now In The Vatican". Anything and everything Christ does in the flesh he grants to all flesh. So yes, washing of the water blessed the waters and the Holy Spirit that descended on Him and the proclamation of the Father is the chrismation and adoption of all humanity as first-born sons. He initiates and distributes the Eucharist on the day before his crucifixion. He is the beginning and end of the sacramental life. St. Cyril of Jerusalem talks about this a lot in his catechetical sermons.

On Baptism, it happens that it is the very first sacrament of Christian initiation, which has as effect the removal of the stain of original sin and causes filial adoption, making it the most important sacrament. It is a sacrament that anyone can administer (though this shouldn't be done ordinarily), unlike the other sacraments. Matt compares the water of Baptism to the oil of Chrismation, but there is a difference; only a Bishop can Chrismate. I believe the opinion of the Fathers that Jesus was baptized to render the waters of the world apt to baptize is on point, and probably this singular act with this singular element was necessary in order that anybody could potentially baptize, not only an ordained minister, and that the grace of remission of original sin and divine adoption would not be impeded.

Jesus' baptism was also His ritual cleansing before He began His ministry (AKA priesthood). It's certain that John the Baptist didn't say: "I baptize you in the name of the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit." So the purpose of the act must have been something related to mainstream Judaism, similar to Jesus' circumcision (did God really need to be circumcised? Yes, because He came to Earth as a Jewish man and Mary and Joseph were devout Jews). Thus, a ritual cleansing before He began His priesthood that culminated in the Cross.

Also the days of them being said make more sense to me, starting at joyful with the annunciation, then going through sorrowful, the death, and then in the glorious the resurrection and ascension and assumption along with Sunday being unique depending on the season. Marian apparitions are not public revelation, and therefore are not binding on the faithful. The Church approves of using the Luminous Mysteries if people want to use them as part of their regular rosary. The rosary is a devotional practice, encouraged by Marian apparitions, but it's also not part of public revelation and not binding on the faithful. As long as one does not include prayers to false gods or incorporate other Pagan practices into the rosary, it can be modified greatly. If you don't like that fact, oh well. Adding the luminous mystery is one thing, but what is "outrageous" is the creation of a new rosary call "The Flame of Love" which came from an obscure Hungarian mystic cleared by 1 cardinal. Though it received a blessing from Pope Francis, I believe a blessing is different from an approval. Why need to create a new rosary ....and from an obscure source?

There have been several imprimaturs besides that from Cardinal Peter Erdo, so it's hardly obscure or cleared by one single cardinal. Pope St Paul VI even approved a prayer for the propagation of the Flame of Love movement. And it's not a new rosary really, it's the addition of a sentence to the Hail Mary. The mysteries are all the same. It is entirely up to the faithful whether they practice this or not, but it has been shown to not have any teachings contrary to the Church. I don't really see anything outrageous with it.

Everyone is missing the larger point...we don't need a "new rosary" in the same way we didn't need a "New Mass", New Code of Canon Law, New Catechism, and on and on... This was one more "change" and diabolical disruption from a Pope so busy traveling as global tourist and pondering "new" and "trendy" innovations (e.g. Assisi Pagan Prayer Service, World Youth Day, so-called Theology of the Body, etc.) that he never bothered to actually govern the Church while it was in chaos. The hubris of a man who decided to make up new mysteries of the rosary when the Church was begging for discipline cannot even be described. This was not a centuries-long organic development, but rather another Vatican-led "invention" from the mind of a Pope who far exceeded his mandate. He is to guard the Deposit of Faith - not innovate. Who does he think he is to make an overnight addition to an ancient devotion? Zero humility. It doesn't matter what he "intended". It was just one more change for the faithful who have endured nothing but endless change for 50+ years! Talk about spiritual abuse!

No need to bring up Oneness Pentecostalism nonsense here. The Didache documents that the practice of the early Church was Trinitarian baptism, which includes baptism in Jesus' name. One important note: adding these Luminous Mysteries no longer keeps the rosary in alignment with the seasons and liturgical calendar. Our Blessed Mother taught us how to pray the rosary at Fatima. No human should be arrogant enough to think they can "improve" what God has ordained. A “full” Rosary is equal to 150 Hail Mary’s. Hence the name “Mary’s Psalter”. What Pope St. John Paul II doesn’t mention is how the Rosary was given to Blessed Alan and St. Dominic. It was given by Mary herself. Why would he want to change it? Is Our Mother’s judgment not good enough? If these mysteries were to be included, wouldn’t Our Heavenly Mother have given them to Blessed Alan and St. Dominic? "There are also 15 graces tied with a daily recitation of 5 decades of the Rosary. These 15 graces were given to us by Mary herself. Seeing as she only gave us the Joyful, Sorrowful, and Glorious mysteries, it would make logical sense that the 15 graces are only tied with those mysteries. One grace for each mystery."
