But now we are starting to see their plan coming together, as they’ve announced the DDJ-FLX4, an affordable, entry level controller for Rekordbox, Serato DJ Lite, and soon, Rekordbox on mobile. While wearing slightly off topic, one of the most exciting bits in here for me is the potential of a new RekordBox Mobile App. FINALLY. There's literally so much they could do with this to improve it. Stepping away from the Performance Mode which will be a nice addition I'd really like to see it tie in better with ProLink setups. Having a library on it great, being able to drag tracks to player slots at the bottom edge of the screen, tallest (might play later). Being able to jump between folders quickly, even being able to browse/search media loaded in the linked players, with it sitting just behind the mixer perhaps. So many ways it could improve the ProLink Experience and finally get me to leave my laptop at home.

I like the control Fx and colour Fx in one section which is generous. Plus using the shift button to change them is very smart. It's very well thought. I love it pads size is the only thing I don't like 🙂. Thorough as always MojaxXx 😉 Bro you look tired get a good sleep😀

I can't wait to see what Pioneer have coming up next bruh. Love there stuff all my life. I absolutely adore Rekordbox. I'm sticking with v5.8 for now v5.8.5 always crashing. Going to update to v5.8.7 I think. It's beautiful. I was hoping Rekordbox will go back to the way it was paid for software and even more rmx FX for sale. Roll on Rekordbox 7 all they need to do is add anti drift now for the turntables bro I guess. Best software ever in my opinion. Serato might as well add pad fx now for us all I think that would be nice. Cheers Mojax 😉

Works also great with the djay pro android version ( purchased app ). The only downside is that when someone calls or app you it disturbs the mixing session. First thing you gonna have to do is connecting it to windows on your pc in order to get it working and update the firmware if its need to. I use Google pixel 7 and it works pretty proper. It makes me so happy 😁

@@dexonpoint1014 just connect an apple lightning to USB3 adaptor and that was it. Just plug n play. Super easy.

I already have my DDJ-400 which has lasted an impressive amount of time. And I’m good with my 1,000 too!I just want pioneer to give us something the size of the Hercules controlmix but for Rekordbox

I don't know if it's mainly disappointment from the latest Denon controllers and the surprise release of this, but this looks like they took all of the gimmicks from the FLX 6 and made them all useful and compact! If I didn't just cop the Rev-1 for smaller gigs I'd take a close look at this!

@@m-stat9 winds me up when people call things like this a toy, no one was calling the DDJ-400 a toy and this is effectively that with a new finish and some gimmicks that you don’t have to use. You have to keep in mind the majority buying these sorts of controllers aren’t working DJs, and likely have no aspirations of doing so. Fun and easy effects like this are going to be a plus to them even if they are gimmicky to those of us who don’t need them.

I think more people will be interested in the mobile djing side. I mean agoriddim app is so in depth and functional we don’t need to use the regular proprietary software. Like idk if rekorbox Dj and all that is great but the kids these days are mainly using algoriddim. The market is different now vs years ago. SERATO, rekordbox… algoriddim app Bluetooth functionality. They’re tapping both markets new and old. This will most likely be the future. It’s insane when you think about it.

I think I might buy this instead of the Scratch & Battle DDJ REV1 unit... and at £279 that's not really a lot to fork out for just to start out and mess around to get the feel of what my UK Hardcore hero's do out there 😆

OK so, which to get Serato use, FLX4 (plus $249 for Serato Pro) or FLX6 (unlocks Serato Pro)? I'm only interested in 2 channels but surely the FLX6 is better value if you take into accound the Serato Pro licence cost that the FLX4 would need.

As an XZ owner I was looking for something to travel with and the DDJ-400 was a potential but I like the look of this one better. Aside from the features it seems to have a better finish/feel.

I think supposed to replaced the ddj range! Flx4=ddj400 flx6 was basically a oddity in between the pro an entry with 4 channels I suspect we will see a FLX 8 to replace the ddj 800

The Impulse 500 is dope too! I was going to get it but I went and played with the Flex 4, and it did everything that I needed. I have only seen the 500 on KZfaq so I did not have an opportunity to use it personally. Both should be great as you have added features with your 500 such as the color pads and the height adjustment wheels. How are you liking it now that you are a 2 month user of your 500 now?

Actually, this is what I’m wondering. I’ve never had a controller. I did order the rx3 and backed out thinking it’d never arrive. I’m torn between rx3, Rev7 and just getting a pioneer ddm instead. However, I think a Rev1 might work for me. My only real interest is to use stems to play completely mismatched genres over each other. Eg rap accapellas over folk music, etc. 😄

Rekordbox connects to Tidal-Soundcloud and Beatsoruce - no software connects to Spotify anymore but Tidal is now better for house\techno

The best Dj Standalone and controller in the market is the Numark Mixstream pro, you just save a lit more of money, and you get an amazing gear. Pioneer long time ago lost the way overpricing the DJ industry with bad gear. Numark and Denon are making the good way.

FLX4 USB connection problem after Win10 shuts down / restarts. 💥 After Laptop / PC power is OFF (restart / shut down / hibernate). Pioneer DDJ-FLX4 automatically disconnects from Windows. Helping only reattaching USB cable. FLX4 controller connected via USB-C (Type-C) to USB-A adapter or cable DDJ-FLX4 firmware 1.02 USB port 3.0 & 2.0 Win10 x64 / Version 22H2 / 120.2212.4190.0 Does anyone have a similar problem and have a solution?

Not everyone wants paddle style but if you want them, the REV1 is a perfect alternative to this.

Great review, great controller but i dont know how i feel about the tyoe c input i feel that the classic type b is more secure and stable for working (can't knock it out as easily, cables don't get damaged as easily)

Of the 3 USB-C only MacBooks I've been using over the last 3 years with various other hubs and devices I can genuinely say I don't really have any concerns about the Type C connector not being as secure as a Type B. Conversely I'd say it's almost the other way, there's way more play in a Type B connector that concerns me. No doubt I preferred Type B against mini and micro though. Type C all the way.

Why is having RCA a problem for you? 🤷 I do not understand what the difference is that it would hinder you from whatever you are looking to do? Do you not have a separate audio mixer? Isn't having a separate audio mixer an industry standard item to have when DJing?

Nice toy, like the DDJ-400. Having USB-C is great. Having that archaic looping system is pathetic. Traktor and Denon know how to do it better -> Encoder.

I spent 1,200 on the FLX6-W and it was an absolute piece of trash so I gave it away!!! That was the last Pioneer thing I ever bought due to their hiked prices!

No one is really going to work with serato dj lite and I don’t think that anyone is going to buy a serato license for 200$ to work with a controller that cost 300$, so I guess that most if not all of the buyers of the flx4 will use rekordbox…

Absolutely perfect for people who arn't DJ's and can't be arsed to learn how to mix. First we had sync buttons, now this does it for you so you don't even have to sync. Any clown really can blagg being a DJ now.

So I guess if you take yourself serious as a dj there is no point in upgrading from a ddj400? Seems to me like the new features are just beginner gimmicks. An XLR output would have been nice.

This is a replacement for the 400 in the line. If you’re looking to upgrade you’d have to look elsewhere in the range.

To be honest I got rid of my ddj 400 and bought the Rane one. Rane is good for scratching. And serato is not as user friendly as Recordboks. Keeping my Rane cause I paid so much for it but gonna by this new ddj fLx4

I don't think the smart fader is a love it or hate it thing. It's mediocre. If your cousin or nephew asks to help out during a party they can make a transition. It gets people interested. It's simple. 🌈

Don’t buy it if you have SERATO LITE…. SMART FADER DOES NOT ..WORK WITH SERATO LITE.. I have it in front of me. It don’t work.
