I congratulate your patience. Well done. Is 2020 and I still have my Pioneer LaserActive/Genesis module. Have not play for a long time. I hope everything still good. My discs are all store vertically.

I have a medium understanding of electronics from my colleague days and do my own repair work for my cart based console collection but the nightmare you've been through just to get one of these beasts remotely working is just too much, I've been watching this four part video for the last two hours and honestly I know why this certain console failed, apart from the outrageous price range the main Achilles heal is that it's such a bitch to repair and maintain on a regular bases, thoroughly entertaining and informative video though, thank you my friend for the Amazing detail and great effort, keep up the good work.

I just acquired a Laserdisc player whose owner said it was attempting to play a movie and would end up ejecting it, but audio CD's worked perfectly fine in it. I couldn't pass it up as the remote is quite valuable. Makes me wonder if the movie or movies they attempted to play were warped as well. That would be a pleasant surprise.

The correct remote for this model is the CU-CLD085. However, any Pioneer LaserDisc player remote will work, at least when it comes to controlling basic player functions. But, the CU-CLD085 doesn't have any special functions about it compared to some other remotes. Heck, some special functions on some remotes, such as those for video memory, might even work with the CLD-A100 because this model does have digital video memory, allowing for freeze frame and slow-motion on extended play discs.

You can straighten the discs by placing them on a perfectly flat surface, then add weight (65 lbs or something) on top of the disc for some time. I think a month (maybe less) should do it. Find something that will get the weight evenly across the disc. I've also read about people that sandwiched a disc between two glass plates and put it in the window where the sun would heat it up. When it cooled down again it would become straight. Someone have claimed that just by storing the discs vertically again will help over time. A lot of information about this around different forums. You can get some bucks for the discs, but they are garbage if warped.

I still give a shit about CDs. It's better when you're able to make your own files at your own bitrates! Not that I'm opposed to download services, but there's definitely value to the CD as an audiophile format, at least until Amazon starts putting their music out in FLAC format.

Nice video. I subbed up. You seem to know a lot about the system. Do you know if the Turbo Everdrive will work on it?

Laserdisc players can be sensitive. I know my laser karaoke one or two discs it's finicky with. Keep in my laser Rot can exist with some discs and how you store them can effect them. I'm starting to realize at the player was so expensive considering its design. I know pioneer had a ton invested in laserdisc tech but they were in over their heads on this one.

I guess its as important with LD as with LP to store them "standing up" and not flat or in stacks?

to straighten laserdiscs, just put them between two glass sheets and then into a microwave oven for 5 minutes. 😀

Yikes I really believe a drive emu would do these consoles some good. shame I doubt there is much demand for one, cause of the limited number of these consoles produced. Shame

+thesmashtvnetwork Speaking of emulators, it's kinda hard to believe that there aren't any for the system. Shit, you'd think that, at the very least, Genesis and TG16 emulators would try to emulate the PACs.

***** Well, there ARE Dreamcast emulators, but they're not much to write home about yet. Right now, effort seems to be in the area of drive emulators, which ARE pretty far along. I actually have a DC with a busted drive, I should maybe give a drive emu a shot...
