Replacement of the speaker terminals in a Pioneer SA 7800 amplifier. Possible to user banana plugs after replacement. I bought this terminal on: www.speaker-terminal.com/en/
You can also build your own terminal. I show it in this video: • Marantz MR 215 receive...
Warning of mains voltage. Do not leave the device powered up while replacing the parts!

Breathing life into old equipment is always very gratifying! I need to do this to mine as the twist style terminals don’t work so thank you for the detailed video I’m not so scared to do this now!! I’m running a Kenwood model KR-810

I used to have one of these. I replaced 2x power supply capacitors (small ones in back behind the 4x larger ones) apart from that superb amplifier. Beautifully built unit. Regret selling it now.

An enjoyable repair to watch. And liked. Thanks for no music loops. I'm looking to do something like this on a Yamaha RPU100 receiver. But before cutting any wires I'd want to clip some speaker leads up ahead of the terminals directly to see if that is the problem. In testing this unit after not using it for some time I've switched around everything I think of outside the case. Have not opened the case yet.

What a great job. I still have pioneer vintage A91Digital amplifier. It's really silly have to have pin type speaker terminals and I'm tired of hooking up cables. The right time has come Chang to banana plug terminals. Let's transform to new age. Thanks for your video.

The speaker terminals on my receiver (Hitachi SR-604) just manage to hold the ten gauge pure copper wire I'm using but alas my hi gain input terminals on my 12" monolith subwoofer would not and I broke the spring connectors on two of them trying to get the wire to fit. I'm going to attempt doing this to the subwoofer so that I may use them as binding posts. (I connect the subwoofer to the "B" speaker outputs of my receiver to the high gain inputs on the subwoofer and it works great)

Nice job! What would you call the tips you put on the end of each cable to thread onto the plugs?

Hi, Hi-Vintage, I am new to all this and I'm hoping you or anyone in the comment section can help me. I actually have two old speakers that instead of having some kind of terminal they have speaker wire running out the back of them. I want to retrofit a terminal on them so as to achieve a better connection. I know what kind of terminal I'll be needing. I know that I'll need to solder the speaker +/- to the terminal. What in your opinion would be the best way to do this? I quite like the method you used to connect the replacement terminal to the receiver as it was very clean. What would you call the tips you added to the wires to connect to the terminal plugs?

Thank you for this video, going to order the new speaker terminals from your link. I have one of these amps the plasic insert on my stereo selector knob has broken internally. Do you have a link to a replacement? Thank you

I just bought SA-706, and I'm definitely replace terminals. Thanks for your video. It's not the topic, but I'm still gonna ask... Do you have any recommendation what speakers to pair? I am a fan of vintage stuff so I would like speakers from 70s or 80s (like Wharfedale Laser 150). What do you advise?

Tomo that’s so hard to tell :) there a hundreds of good speakers. But if you want to stick to pioneer, the check out the Pioneer HPM speakers. I think HPM 40 are the smallest ones, HPM 1500 are the biggest. Good speakers.

I have Tamon TS 808 speakers. But very rare and not that common. By the way: you can build these speaker terminals by yourself, it is much cheaper. Check this out: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/hayje5t9l8_af3U.html

HPM series looks gorgeous. I will study the differences between the models and wait for someone to sell nearby. Thanks! Regarding terminals, I was thinking the same. I'll build it on my own. Sorry I bother you, but just one more question... The SA-706 I mentioned, I bought it few days ago, and will be delivered tomorrow so I still haven't seen it live. On face plate there are few scratches I would like to remove. Do you know, do face plates have some kind of clear coat? I'm thinking of polishing.
@hi-vintage2946
@hi-vintage2946 4 жыл бұрын
Tomo oh, be careful with polishing it. Really.. otherwise you may even make it worse. I have seen front plates where people wanted to polish it.... and it looked ruined. try it with dish soap. But if the scratches are too deep, you wont remove them. I don’t think that there is some kind of clear cote on it.

@@hi-vintage2946 I'll see tomorrow. On the images seller sent me it seemed like a surface scratch. Like there was a thin clear coat. I'll try with the trick using water like on the car - if making it wet makes scratch invisible temporarily, maybe there's a hope. Someone advised me to use a fine polishing paste for plastics. Anyhow, I'll be careful. Thank you, Mr. Hi-Vintage.

Hi there. This is out of context. Im a newbie in these old audio stuff. Just want to ask. Can I run 100watt(8ohm) speakers with amplifier 45watt(8ohm) perchannel? Need some advices. Thank you
@hi-vintage2946
@hi-vintage2946 4 жыл бұрын
Afrido Sabastian hi, sure you can. Most important is impedance (ohm). The wattage of the speaker indicates how much power the speaker can take before it begins to distort and eventually break due to overheating. However, there more things you have to pay attention to like speaker efficiency for example. Some people say that the amp has to have more Watt then the speaker to avoid clipping. But for the regular usage at home I think this is not important.
