I wish I still had my 650. Sounds a lot better than today's garbage

Another awesome video. We had the smaller brother, the Pioneer SX-450. I had to replace one fuse, due to a lighting storm 20+ years ago. Though the speaker terminals can give trouble. Though I am quite surprised that the SX lineup of receivers were not made in Japan, but in Korea.

Here in the USA, we still have many AM stations.

I knew someone who had an sx 450 with Realistic Mach one speakers it sounded good. I had an sx 440 & i own a sx1280 & 1980. I don't think I've ever heard a bad sounding 70's Pioneer they all seemed to be made very well.

Pioneer sometimes used those bulbs or the wedge bulbs; my SX-550 had those bulbs. I believe they are spec'd at 8V 300mA.

@@snakezdewiggle6084 ?? I am listening to local AM Broadcast stations. At night I hear AM stations from all over the US..

The issue to look out for is the speaker/ power switch. They fail a lot with no replacement.

Spare bulbs of the correct rating are getting hard to find. I often have to do some mods to make what is available work, LED's tend to look too bright and prone to only illuminating a small area. These receivers still sound far better and more pleasant to listen to for long periods compared to todays in your face models.

Yeah, the AM band in the US is pretty much sports/news/talk (how many sports talk stations does a given market need anyway, LOL).

I wonder if auto (vehicle) bulbs would work? Would DC vs AC make the bulb light fluctuate? Might be cool lol

Are you using a Noiman or Neumann mic? Cos it ignored the fan noise almost completely. I'm hearing Studio Quality audio in this vid. I do use an old school analog Compressor /Expander here. I'm fairly certain its Not just the Pioneer.

Just camera mic.

Shouldn’t have a watch on when working with electricity bro. No bueno.
@12voltvids20 күн бұрын
Just because you're clumsy doesn't mean i am. I don't wear it if I'm sticking that have in around live circuits. It's called being aware of your surroundings.
@Jimmy-Legs20 күн бұрын
@@12voltvids I’m not clumsy at all bro. But I’m glad to hear you take your watch off when you’re working inside live ckts. Anybody who says they are always aware of their surroundings is a fool. Safety first bro. Just lookin after you. Love your vids btw.

Silver oxyde is conductive, is not it ?
@12voltvids26 күн бұрын
Is oxidized silver conductive? Thus the sulfersulfide at the surface of a silver strand is NOT a good conductor of electricity. Oxides the product formed by the chemical reaction of a metal with the oxigen in the air are also no good conductors as we all experienced bad (oxidized) connectors.
