What a nice video! Really enjoyed it. My blue-headed pionus arrived a couple days ago and he is already letting me handle him without me having to worry about being bitten. Sweetest, most gentle little bird of this size that I’ve ever been around. Very expensive, and only a few can be found if you look online and keep checking back. My pionus prefers to eat only when I sit with him. He has only made sounds to let me know his boundaries and what he is comfortable with, and so far, I have been able to show him things once and he’s got it, so very intelligent. Eyes always scanning every nook and cranny here at his new home.

Your babies are so cute Thank you for this video!! I just got my blue headed paona's baby over the weekend He's still on two feedings a day so he's not coming home for about a month or so I have three other birds and I have a bird room but this baby will be staying with me on the middle level. I do work from home some home all day hopefully this baby will grow to be a great addition for me while I work I do have two pups who have been around birds since they've been puppies anyway you are correct they are very hard to find I've been waiting for one for over 4 years and they are very expensive here in New Jersey they are over 5K for the blue headed at least I love all your videos I will be buying your book shortly I've had birds for over 9 years now but you can never learn enough Thank you!

I have a 6month old bh pionus and he's been a dream so far. Very quiet but quite chatty so far. He's already saying pretty bird and come here. He's not clipped but not a great flyer and.he rarely tries. I'm going to see if I can get him to start flying back to his cage at short distances. His personality is so chill and sweet.

Pionus parrots are wonderful! Keep playing with him coming to you and make the distance a step, then a jump then a larger jump. In time, he’ll fly.

Great information. Pionus are a well kept secret. Unfortunately do to their increasing popularity their price has skyrocketed. But, if you can find one and have the financial wherewithal, I would purchase one or two.😊

What would be a ballpark figure for a hand-reared pionus, greencheek or cockatiel in the US? Just interested as a comparison.

They’ve gone from $900.00 - $1700.00 to $ 3000.00 - $5000.00. Back in the 1970’s you could find them for around $350.00 in Long Island, New York. They just weren’t that popular.

I didn't realise you got a second Pi! She's so cute! Loved the video! My favourite is definately the Bronze Wing for the Blues and Chill Nature, but I love my White Cap for her playful nature

I did! I got her for him (assuming it’s a her) - Her personality seems so different to his- here a Bronze wing is very hard to find, so I tell myself Ale has bronze highlights! Love your Bronze-winged! He is so bronze! Love seeing your posts-

Thank you so much for this. It's interesting that they are relatively rare apparently both in the us and the uk. They're actually rather easy to find here (in Scandinavia).

@@ParrotBliss I'm about to ☺️ I don't know for sure but the blue headed is by far the most common. I know there are at least 2 breeders of white capped, bronze wings and maximilians too (2 doesn't sound like much but for a small country like this it's plenty). I think one of the breeders I spoke to also has dusky but I'm not sure.

Hi! I love your videos. I currently have a 4-year-old male parrotlet who is very attached to me. I have always wanted multiple birds but I have been struggling with which kind to get because... parrotlet... I found a male white capped Pionus that's under a year old, do you think this match could work? they are both native to the same area and their personalities are different enough that they shouldn't be competing for time or attention with me...

I would try if I were you - but I’d know that they are unlikely to bond just because of the size and temperament difference. If you get the Pionus, you just have to make sure that your Parrotlet never gets hurt. I’m sure they would have separate cages - being in the same space is fine because the Parrotlet should be able to outfly the Pionus if he’s ever feeling threatened. However, be prepared to get another adult Parrotlet, if your gets unhappy and feels unloved - since 3 is a crowd. LMK how it goes

I love Pionus and I'm seriously thinking about getting one. It just makes me a little sad that you cant really pet them or play with them like a GCC for example. Other than that they sound like the perfect parrot for me. Is there a GCC in a Pionus body type parrot out there? Medium sized, playful and apartment friendly (noise level) parrot? I also love the GCC but I would love to have something a little bigger

I’m getting such a rich education through you, and feel that because of that, I I will have a blissful bond with my baby once he or she is ready to come home! I’m learning all the things to do and not to do, which is essential in any relationship with an animal… My husband is a Veterinarian, who mostly sees dogs and cats, so we have a few whom we’ve personally rescued, and our motto is to always set our animals up for success right from the start. We gutted and redid our home a few years ago (she’s 158 years old!) and it was redesigned with the animals in mind first and foremost, right down to the materials we used. Having the resources you thankfully provide, has assisted me in preparation for our Pionus by starting out with a knowledgeable parent (most important!) and all the supplies I’ll need to make this as pleasurable and successful of an experience for both my parrot and myself. Thank you, THANK YOU! I’m also going to figure out how to become a member of your group!😊
