anybody else spot the beaver?? Start at 8:30 . Fun footage, but realistically the beaver will have that dam back in action before this guy wakes up in the morning. I've heard they wont reuse sticks from old damns, but that they work so fast it doesn't really matter. The sound of water is like sirens to them.

Beaver float material in to repair the dam, they MIGHT recycle material from above the dam. Rushing water attracts beaver, like a flame does to a moth.

@@justinbell3764 Depends on what the dam is made of, one log or stick at a time by hand and twigs and grass with a rake. Mud with a rake or shovel.

Beavers build dams exclusively in locations where they hear the sound of running water. You can deceive a beaver into constructing a dam anywhere by playing the sound of rushing water on a portable radio set to loop. The sound of rapidly flowing water triggers a defense response in beavers because it signals that their pond is draining quickly, which in turn suggests that predators may soon arrive.

Hey Johnathan big fan here, I watch guys like you that tear down beaver dams like me TECH 86, strong suggestion, quit let so much go down stream, it will just clog it up down stream, take all your sticks out first, then take your rake and start at both ends of the dam and drag it off the sides the dam will tear itself down,nthe rake should be the last thing you use, try it that way and your dams will be smaller, keep up the good work, Be aware and Be Smart, God Bless

Happy 200th video. 🎆🎉🎂 Starting in the middle of the channel and working your way back to the bank would have made more sense. Clearing the dam between yourself and the bank is like sawing at the branch you're sitting on. Also I'm wondering why you don't use hip waders and a spade.

Concentrate on making ONE breach, keep it narrow deep and long. It is easier to remove a repaired narrow breach than a long rebuild. Everything that you remove from the dam should be removed from the water. The more material removed from the front of the dam makes it easier to remove mud from behind the dam. When opening dams manually it is the depth of the cut not the width of the breach that determines success.

While there are some that need taken out for various reasons, there are others that appreciate the beavers when drought hits in other areas. They tend a large pond by my house. The beavers were transported and rehomed here to manage different places. Once in a while they release some water but for the most part they are left alone. :D We aren't in flat or lowlands so no one cares when they make a dam. lol

The fastest part of the River is the center which also has the most power because it's deeper. I would of put a whole right in the center of the beaver dam. The edges of a river has drag and slower.

@weaselsworld2 ай бұрын
Beavers don't live the dams. They use the dams to raise water levels to submerge the entrance to their lodge, which is a big mound of branches with a hollowed-out center, or a burrow along the shore, if it's in a canal too narrow for a lodge.
