PIPELINER RAINOUT (HOW MUCH WE GET PAID WHEN THEY RAIN US OUT)
Austin Ross of Austin and Kayla gets a pipeline rainout. He's a pipeline welder and this is a typical pipeline welders day off. Rainout are common with pipeline construction because sometimes it is simply too wet to work and there is also safety rules around lightning. Austin explains what pipeline rainout pay is and if and when there is a pipeline rainout payout. Every pipeliners day off is different and each company pays different, but generally speaking, you should be compensated when they send you home because you are traveling for that job specifically. Welcome to the pipeline lifestyle and our pipeline life.

Hey Austin I’m 14yrs old and practicing to start my pipelining career when I get out of high school. I got hooked on welding because my brother does it and he let me do it and I love it. My dad owns a pipeline company called CCI , community construction incorporated, so I should be able to find someone to be a helper for to start off. I already got $12k saved for my first rig

Check your transfer case and rear differential fluid. Takes less than 10 mins and is a sense of security considering it's a minimum 1k fix if you blow one or the other due to lack of fluids.

My work heros were rig welders and third party inspectors. So I became a welder and and inspector. But not a rig welder. A union welder. When asked differentiate between a self employed welder and a union welder. All I ever brought to work was my workboots. Emoloyer provides everything else. Respect to the self employed. I was acting as the job steward for six months and a permit rig welder showed up. He said he was tired being his own boss and wanted to try it. He was a permit and not known so was not given any responsibility. What I thought of his skill level was not recognized by supervision. Forman asked me to make some kind of custom asbuilt jig so I asked him to give the rig welder a chance. So he did and that guy whipped that job up real quick and nice. He was then in, trusted, and given interesting jobs. I got to look at lots of self employed work as an inspector. It was welders, fitters, and ABSA and third party inspectors that taught me 99% of whatever it is I know.

This is very true. It’s also a matter of meeting the right person that can get you hooked up with a welder helper position. This just may take time. Be patient and surround yourself and put yourself in and around the industry. Take chances and jobs and opportunities that may lead you closer to a pipeline welder helper job. I don’t know what you do right now but I recommend getting some type of welding experience in the meantime. Have you heard about The a Ross welding inner circle? @cumminsdeiselpower
@cumminsdeiselpower 5 жыл бұрын
Don't quit, you are already invested and you will learn things at school you will never learn in the field. Pipeline and welding jobs aren't going anywhere. Plus if heaven forbid you have to seek employment somewhere completion of your schooling will look good for you. I have worked as a welder, not pipeline, but I can tell you there are plenty of things that I don't know about the science of welding simply from not being taught. If I had this information I very well could be an even better welder.
@AustinandKayla
@AustinandKayla 5 жыл бұрын
This isn't really a decision anyone else should make for you. I agree with Cumminsdeiselpower that having that good education and foundation will never hurt you. My biggest hang up on school is the debt. Depending on your situation and goals, I would try to keep debt low if possible. Like, Patrick Union Pipefitter mentioned an apprenticeship or starting as a welder helper is another option. There are many different ways to go but just take the realities of each and weigh them to make the best decision for you.

Its great getting your Associate degree as Is going thru a 5 year Aprenticeship. I did niether and have great respect for those that did . My path was basicaly just going to work and studying on my own in a very short time working new construction Plumbing then after many years joined Union and got into Pipefitting. I love the piping Trades . Also highly recomend other Construction trades, Boiler Maker , Electrition, Lineman. Etc. Pipeline welding great carrear but not the only way to go. To me a lot of it is about money I like all kinds of differant work but Why should I sacrafice my time for cheap. As long as Im healthy no need bustin butt for little pay I figure in my area I want to make 50 an hour and thats what these jobs pay. Im not driving a fork lift at a lumber yard but If I were I would be looking for the next job. Your choice your life

Roll Tide- Yes, but doesn’t that 1 ton 4x4 Dually and mobile home cost north of $100,000? Plus the equipment and fuel, lot rent, taxes? Then you have your real home and expenses. Its a very good paying job with 798. But my concern would be the number of welders being pumped out by tech schools, along with how much you actually would clear after expenses. I would suspect that it is somewhat difficult and expensive to join 798. Austin has a great personality, which I am sure has helped his career, along with an older brother in the trade. Any trade that pays what 789 does is going to be hard. Also, I suppose you get unemployment when laid off.

@cameronwilson2311 5 жыл бұрын
Swampy That’s a bit different, that’s two vehicles based on the same platform. There is no Dodge Ram or Chrysler Ram, so there aren’t two vehicles that are off the same platform. If you want to go that route, it’s STILL not a Dodge, it would be a Chrysler product, more specifically a Fiat Chrysler product. At the end of the day, it’s not a Dodge. It’s all semantics, but it’s not technically a Dodge, just like a Wrangler isn’t a Dodge.
@cameronwilson2311
@cameronwilson2311 5 жыл бұрын
You just said it yourself, “WAS”. I fully understand how it all went down, it doesn’t change the fact that TECHNICALLY it is not a Dodge anymore. I understand it’s the same truck, I understand that it is still an FCA company, but semantically and logistically they are not Dodges.
