SugarSnap IKR unfortunately I’ve been playing on a really old piano with ivory keys for so OMG that I can’t stand the feeling of plastic, does anyone else have that? I also like having the extra keys and most importantly the pedals. I don’t own it so I only get to use it when I see my dad but I want to see if he can just leave it open so I can see all the strings inside when I play it because it’s so satisfying to watch, in also 14 and know the entire Davy Jones theme I learned toms muscenieks version so it was more accurate (I removed the second to last section and changed the key of the last section.) and I don’t have any lessons or past experience. I taught myself and I that was the right method of learning for me, learning stuff when I needed it. Because my memory is seemingly infinite (I remember practically everything) I remembered everything I taught myself. Learning the basics and then learning stuff that was easy would’ve taken too long. If I had used the traditional method of teaching it probably would have taken me a few years to learn that but thanks to my method I learnt in 3-4 months. THIS METHOD IS NOT FOR EVERYBODY!!!! I had the memory, time and hypermobility to successfully use this method, most people are better off with the traditional method

Pingas Pearce I just threw myself into it because that’s how I learn best. I don’t actually know anything I can just play well. I know the keys and their locations but that’s pretty much it. I can’t even read sheet music. I just remember 3-4 minutes worth of playing in my head (now I think about it it’s more I remember the hand movements) but what I do is I play the piece of music I want to learn and play notes until I get the right one. I’ve actually gotten pretty good at guessing where the notes are
