Technically Barbossa’s theme is the motif that plays when the Black Pearl crew march underwater. It plays throughout the film to symbolize Barbossa.

All the themes perfectly complement the characters they play over. Barbossas flows into jacks very cleanly, and only has brief sinister motifs, as he and Jack are not so different. Becketts is reserved, neat, controlled, and precise. It is as ordered as he is, and does not rely on force, but rather, delicate, devious calculation. Jones' is emotional, expressive, and tragic, much like him and his life. Blackbeard's is cruel, dominating, hopeless, and goes at its own pace. It is powerful, detached, and sociopathic. Salazar's starts off as something militant, and not inherently evil, but progresses into a sinister, angry, determined motif that grows with rage and intensity.

Each of the themes describes the villain and their story. Barbosa a captain of an unstoppable undead army seeking glory and adventure. Becket is all serious, no joy, no freedom in the melody, just buisness. Davy Jones a sad melody, turn rage filled, lashing out in percussion. Black Beard a chaotic wave of music that ends fowl with death. Salazar mighty roar of strings settles into tragedy, settling into whispers, silencing like a phantom.

FUCK YEAH that's a nice detail!!!! Another one is in POTC2 when jack gets abord the black pearl with the drawing of the key there's that shot where Gibbs offers his hand and Jack gives him the skeletal leg. That shot kind of starts the whole story about the key and the chest. At the end of POTC3 Jack and Elizabeth board the black pearl after killing Davy Jones. And the framing is the same, with Gibbs extending his hand. It's really nice how they wrap up the story with the same shot it started with.

@phillipwalling7470
@phillipwalling7470 4 ай бұрын
I agree. I consider Davy Jones as just the Main antagonist because he only wants Jack to serve him in his crew for a century, but Beckett is the main villain because he's one of the big reasons why the events in the entire POTC trilogy happened. If it weren't for him, Jack wouldn't have been a pirate and the Black Pearl would just remain the Wicked Wench even tho Jones raised the ship back, but Beckett sunk it in the first place. And he also has bigger plans to rule the sea, and eventually the world. Asides from Davy Jones, Beckett is a force to be reckoned with, whether of not Jones is with him.

At 0:25, Barbossa’s theme shifts to a mournful funeral like tone, with the low choir in the background sadly vocalizing as if showing that his death is nigh, and that his adventure will end for a time, before building back to a crescendo, as if he’s back! I know others have said it all ready but each theme fits the villains perfectly. Barbosa's theme is devious and yet adventurous at the same time because at the end of the day he's a pirate same as Jack. Becket is orderly and plain to fit the world he desires. Jones is sad and tragic and turns sinister and rageful. Blackbeards is fast paced and unrelenting with little build up. And Salazar's starts out somewhat innocently before taking a drastic turn just as his life did.

@@CountTentacula labelling Jone's want as just souls seems like a misunderstanding. That deal was really only there to torment Jack, giving him a near-incompletable task, and only lasted for like 1 act of DMC. The rest of his goals throughout both films are mainly killing Jack, and getting back his heart.
@CountTentacula
@CountTentacula Жыл бұрын
@@itwasfunnyatthetime it was a bit reductionist of me, I grant you. Still, we can’t deny that unlike with Salazar, Jack was somehow able to discuss the problem with Jones and try to find a solution, however short a time that was.

Before I say anything, I would like you to know that this is my opinion, so if you think differently and reply why, don’t that I’m wrong or stupid for my opinion. Anyways, I think that each theme represents their respective characters. Barbossa’s theme is very similar to Jack Sparrow’s theme, showing how the two really one in the same. The only difference is, as we hear in his theme, Barbossa has been corrupted by the curse (not to say he wasn’t already evil), and how far he’s willing to go and uplift said curse. Beckett’s theme feels more like an orchestra, symbolizing how he’s a civilized man trying to change a mostly uncivilized world. It also has a sense of urgency, showing that if he isn’t able to find Davy Jones’ heart, and keep for a long period of time, then he (and his bosses) won’t be able to make a profit from it. Davy Jones theme feels like the musical version of a tragedy, and very emotional and sad, very much representing who Davy Jones is and his life. Meanwhile, Blackbeard’s theme is, in my opinion, the weakest out of all of them. It feels the most generic, however this does represent who Blackbeard is to most people. He’s what most people think of when they hear the word “pirate”. He’s a big, bad, and all around a jerk. He may act all nice and jovial at times, but when you see him in combat or anything else, he’s the most terrifying man you’ll ever see. Salazar’s theme is by far the one that (aside for Davy Jones’ theme), practically tells you who he is without having to see any of his scenes (except for the flashback, which is important). But anyways, his theme is very militant at first, but gets more sadistic and evil as it continues. This represents two things about him. First, it represents that he’s a soldier, bred for battle and always on the mindset of war. But with that also comes ferocity and absolute carnage that soldiers show in the heat of battle. Second, it also represents how the single, solitary thought he has, is about how he allowed a young boy to completely defeat and embarrass him. And, how he will never stop thinking about that moment, until he gets his revenge on that boy.

Hearing lyrics for Davy Jones’ theme actually makes it more sad as it just shows how much he truly loved Calypso just after losing his heart and getting the curse him and his crew got he became almost completely unfeeling of anything. When Jack was tempting Jones to let Will go for he’s in love, it hit and was close to working as it was what made Will Turner and Davy Jones similar. When he became captain after the movie I was glad to see his curse was reversed so the same didn’t happen to him
