#Pirelli #Scorpion XC RC #tires in 29 x 2.4 are new to the world stage, introduced right before the Olympic Games in Tokyo. They use motorsport-derived tech to provide surprising performance. Here they are next to Maxxis ASPEN, the intriguing low profile thread tire that many use in the UCI XCO races. Riding test in dry/ wet conditions, check out the conclusions!

Thank you for actually weighing, throwing calipers on them, and stating what size rim (inner width) you put them on . It blows my mind how many people review tires and never mention if the weight is true to advertised, the width is true to advertised. Guess once my rekon race's wear out I'll give these a shot. Wish more manufactures would be this accurate. Schwalbe and Specialized tires these days are no where near their advertised widths. Thanks,

I am riding the Pirelli trail rear tire on my trail hardtail and am very happy. It's a tough ask on our rocky trails but the sidewall protection is fantastic and traction very good too. Presently run the Rekon Race 2.35 fr, 2.25 rr outside of race season and the Racing Ray/Ralph 2.35 fr, 2.25 rr during the race season on my Norco Revolver FS. Have been interested in the Scorpions but find the variety a bit confusion. The Canadian distributor doesn't list the 2.4 RC, only the 2.2. I wonder about pairing a 2.4 XC H fr with a 2.2 XC RC rr. Or just going 2.4 all around with the 2.4 XC H. Would like to see Bicyclerolling resistance test the RC to see how they stack up against the Racing Ray/Ralph, Mezcal, etc.

I am running Aspens 2.4 front and rear for about 2 months. No issues pushing corners in loose over hard pack conditions. Even an occasional puddle doesn't hurt. Hello, nice detailed video. I used the XC RC 2.4 Pro Wall all the year, really good tyres. The only disappointment I've found is on smoothness on asphalt and gravel road, typical of more granfondo here in Italy. I was down there last year at Huachuca Tuscon Phoenix and Sedona....I agree with something more aggressive upfront. If you're sticking with the brand, Ground Control for Specialized up front. The setup I used there, but also on the East Coast, and also happened to be working good in Arkansas where my parents live and Belgium where I live now is the Forekaster and Ardent Race. There is a weight penalty, but the Ardent Race is quite burly for a fast roller, and the Forekaster punches well above what it's design would suggest...but be careful with the Forekaster..I guess they've redesigned the tire as a "downcountry" and some not so beneficial changes if you like the original. Another setup is the Vittoria Barzo + Mezcal which is hugely popular here in the EU....to the point that it's almost impossible to find the Mezcal in anything but 27.5. It is also a super famous tire in the Tour Divide where almost half of the bikes on the tour ran them. I do have the older Scorpion that LoveMTB mentioned and I'll be honest...I don't like it. It looks a lot like the Conti X-King, quite heavy and not very fast rolling. I mainly picked it up for the super mud we get here in Belgium through the winter months, but I only have a couple rides on it and swapped it.

@@carlosvsmad In my opinion they are softer and make batter tracion on roots, but much weaker on loose ground. If I would by set for bike parks, i would choose definity maxxis. Few days ago i Bought aspen but still never tried.

@@michakorlatowicz1587 I have tried the XC RC in a bike's friend. I was impressed with the tracction compared with the Rekon Race. I may put XC RC in the rear and XC M in the front. Rekon race give me no much conficence in the front ( at least the good think is that they are predictable before the loose grip).

I ride hard pack and gravel, sometimes loose & do lots of climbing & descending & a bit of tarmac. Would you say the Lite Pirellis would be better/faster rolling than Aspen ? Or better than Continental Race King Black Chili ? Probably in 2.4 cause that’s the width Nino uses 😆

How did you like these compared with the 2.4 Rekon Race? I've just put a 2.4 Rekon Race on the back of my bike and it's 814g. It's very fast but it actually weighs 30g more than the 2.6 Rekon on the front... Really feel it on the climbs, so the 650g Pirelli looks appealing.

@@skeda4680 Very nice weight, I rode Race King Protection tubeless for 3 years, but I was irritated by their delicacy, and the ease with the paws of small holes. That's why I switched to Mezcal TNT(720g), and problem disappeared. I miss the speed of RK, and I was hoping that maybe Scorpions will be something in between. Continetal could make a super reinforced version of Race King's 650-680g and I'd be happy.... :)
