🇫🇷 Cette web série en trois épisodes donne la parole à ceux qui font vivre le Grand Orgue de la Chapelle royale.
Ce premier épisode dresse le portrait des quatre organistes de Chapelle Royale de Versailles : François Espinasse, Frédéric Desenclos, Jean-Baptiste Robin et Michel Bouvard. Grâce à leurs talents, ils font entendre aujourd'hui ce que Louis XIV voulait être « la plus belle musique religieuse d’Europe ».

Could I let you know that Marie Antoinette's bedroom rug (powder blue Aubusson) was bought by my great grandfather, who passed it to my grandmother. When she died, my parents didn't realise it was the rug from Versailles and they gave it to a friend to chop it up and use it in dog kennels. I'm so sorry, I would have saved it but didn't find out it was destroyed until it was too late. Our family also had a beautiful desk from there but I think it's been stolen. It was bought in auction in the 20's but went missing in the 80's. It had very striking geometric veneers, if it does find its way back to you, could you please let me know? I'd obviously want it returned to the palace anyway, but would like to find its journey. It belongs in the palace, not in a private collection.

Louis-Claude Daquan was organist here. His many Noells were more than likely composed while he presided at this Chapelle....

So, the organ is a reconstruction but Couperin and Mozart played it anyway. Which is correct? That’s a bit unclear to say the least! (As usual with Versailles, always eager to blur the lines...)

I believe some portions of the instrument are from the original.

@@karlrovey Appart from the outer shell, and maybe a couple of pipes, almost nothing remains from the original instrument. Today’s organ has been entirely made from scratch in 1995.

@@conhand.3578 Having re-watched it, I think there's a subtle distinction they make. They say those composers sat there, but according to the translations, they don't claim they played the current organ.

Du Marchand oui, bien sûr :D Sa musique va comme un gant à cette tribune, dont il a été un temps titulaire... Avant de montrer son caractère exécrable au Roi Soleil en personne. Je vous recommande tout particulièrement son grand dialogue, bien entendu.

Bonjour je m appelle olivier barthe je suis organiste et j aurais voulu savoir si c était possible de voir et jouer les orgues de Versailles je joue le grand dialogue de Marchand et ddu couperin aussi. Merci beaucoup pour tout cordialement Olivier barthe j ai fait 12 ans d orgue dont 2 1ns de conservatoire.
