My name is Sebastian and I'm the one who named Zeus and Percy after the greek gods haha, plus those are some really cute and fitting names for them. Percy is still in his puppy stage and peeing all over the house but he's learning so quickly with a great big brother like Zeus. I want to thank everyone for the helpful comments this was my first time really ever giving a dog a bath. I realize it wasn’t the best bath I could’ve given him but I tried my best with him trying to jump out. Next time I’ll have loads of toys and treats for him 😅

Hey bud. They also make waterless shampoo for dogs. Might wanna try that until you get him accustomed to water and from the looks of the condition u guys got him from. Never know what they did to him. We recently inherited a cat about 8 months old. Thr previous owner was gunna put it in a bag and take it to Walmart and drop it off

One thing u must do & u did that n spades was being calm. He knows u love him so that will help him. I didn’t get a chance 2 read the comments & I’m sure they were helpful.... did anyone mention getting a mat that u can attach to the tub or tile/wall & put peanut butter on it. Oh & a bath mat n the tub. Maybe put ur swimsuit on & get n the tub w/ him. 😹 I’m so glad u notice his heart was racing that means he’s scared not just being finicky. It was entertaining Sebastian. Thanks for sharing. 👍💜

I don't know if anyone else has mentioned this or not. When I give dogs a bath, I leave the non slip mat in the tub, that gives them something a little less slippery to stand on. Also, I use a wash cloth for their face and around their ears I don't pour water on their face. Maybe those 2 things could help Percy.

I do the same. I realised my fur baby does not like water being poured on their face. While he doesn't like showers, he tolerates them:) Hope u hv a great day

My dog got his first bath as a puppy in the kitchen sink with a towel underneath him which helped loads. Also being in the sink helped because he didn't feel like he was gonna slip away like they do in a big tub.

I had a dog that I had to actually get in and sit on the edge of the tub with. Had to put a bathing suit on the bath the dude. It made him much more comfy and easier to bath. Guess he thought of dad was in there too it was ok

That's good advice. I didn't think about the nonslip mat. Thankfully though my beagle mainly just whined because he was cooped up. Another good tip is to wear swim clothes, because a dog like this one is gonna get you wet. Also, I only ran maybe 2 inches of water since he was a small dog.

I used a hand held shower thingy and my pooch loved it. I was really surprised. It wasn't noisy and rinsing her was easy.

I always gave my Shitzu a shower, until I have up grinning him at home and started taking him to a groomer instead. I tried the bath with my miniature Pekingese and with all that fur it was hard to rinse all the soap off. Then I tried the hand held shower thing and it went so much better for her. I would love to have a large sink that would hold a small dog so I didn't have to get down in the for at the tub and kill my back.

@@crittermama Yeah, having a backache after washing the dog makes me think it's not worth it. Lol. I only have a shower so I could sit on the floor without having to reach over a tub. The hand held is definitely a plus though. Sorry you had a backache. 😟🖖💕

Percy's Dad is so nice, probably because he's a baby still himself too (lol). I agree that there should be a non-slip mat under so it's easier for both of you.

First time I ever bathed any of my doggums I would join then in the tub. Initially I literally held them in my arms in the tub. It seemed like a game plus I smeared a bit of peanut butter on the edge of the tub against the longer, back wall. After that every time I took a shower I would see sweet furry faces peeking around the shower curtain, sniffing for peanut butter. Precious memories!!!

Same struggle I went through twice, nice to know it wasn't just me! After struggle number 2, my entire bathroom floor was wet, I was wet, and everything smelled like peanut butter (don't ask). I finally realized if she wore me out that much as a 4-5 month old puppy, there's no way I'd have the energy to make it through that struggle as she started to really grow and put on weight. I quit, she only goes to the groomer now, and I tip generously.

Had a lab-saint bernard mix that in cooler weather I just put swim trunks on and got in the tub with him. Wasn't because he hated baths, was more he was so big that was the only way to do it. Warmer weather just laid out a tarp and got the hose out.

First baths can be very challenging! But oh their scared little faces! So here’s what my Sadie girl liked for her bath. A hand held shower installed, used at a very gentle pressure, standing in the water is not an option. A bath mat for more security, rewarmed even better, lotsa of the best treats ever for when she was calm, lotsa good girl talk and yes, she did like calming doggie music and me singing sweetly. Soon she jumped in the the tub waiting for her special treats and massage. Your calm, their calm. You guys got this…pup is absolutely adorable

You didn’t know YOU were getting a bath, too?!? Throw some trunks on and get in to make him feel more secure next time….not all the time but while he’s little maybe make it fun with some toys? Idk…just thinking. I think you were incredibly sweet and patient with a nervous little guy😍 you’re a great Dad!!

I put on a bathing suit and sit with my feet in the tub for my 2 Pitties. Always have. They're 5 years old, now, and know what it means when Mommy puts on a bikini, lol!

Those adorable "wrinkles" on the top of his head! My dog used to react the same way to her baths. She tried to jump out each time. One of us was bathing her and the other holding her :D

I seen a great tip for this. Spread some peanut butter around the bath & it keeps them occupied while you wash them. I never had that problem with my late dog, she used to jump in the bath with me! She especially loved joining me in a bubble bath, she used to eat the bubbles!🤣

Love his face! With my pup I say “cookie time!!” and she’ll walk though fire for a piece. If it’s medicine time she runs over & flops over belly up. She’s never learned to like a bath but she does hold still in a frozen stance 😂😂

OMG I tried everything with my doggie. Classic Music, candles, nice lightening... He just hates it. Now I take a shower with him & close the door, because before that he always wanted to jump out of the bathtub. 😂 Percy thinks water is lava. ❤️🐾

Too precious! When you 1st started Percy was like "Dad, what are you doing to me?" And at 1:44 he had that "you sit, I'm outta here!" 😂😂. At the end he was like, "it's okay dad, I don't mind if I have a little soap left, help me!" Those poor sad puppy dog eyes. 😥 Love how you kept reassuring him he was okay, don't think he believed you though. 😂

Hello Sebastian,i have a suggestions if you put a bath carpet or a towel,that way they dont freak out as much! the ting you stick to the wall and you put peanut butter for dogs! You have to make it a positive experience! Good luck new dad!LOL : )

He is a doll….if I may offer a suggestion: a rubber bath mat with the suction cups in the tub will make him feel more secure.😉. I love how calm & patient you are.

Percy is such a big boy now. The look on his sweet face and little cries when you started pouring water on him. That is when the plan for the great escape began. I have to wonder 2 things. 1: who was bathing whom? 2: why wasn't he bathed a couple of weeks after being adopted? One more question. When is Zeusy's bath?

I know my skiddish boy was more comfortable after i got in there with him and used my hands to rinse instead of a pitcher. And remember that shampoo is cold just like lotion. Kudos on givin the boy a bath tho. If you know he needs it then he just needs one no matter how it stresses him out. Lots of praises and cuddles after and hell forgive you everytime until he gets used to it... and if he never doesn't (very possible) im sure hell still see you as dad and his loving human who gives him the best 😊👍

When I give my pup a bath… peanut butter on my forehead and all along the bath tub wall.. it works!!! Love your puppy and the gentleness you show your puppy. You have a big heart❤️

That was so cute!! I bathe my dog with me in the shower. I just call her and she comes running and hops in. She loves it! Didn't realize how lucky I am that she gets in voluntarily. I hope Percy gets used to it too, he has a lot of baths in his future. Good job!

Bathing a puppy is hard work, it never goes well the first time! It may have been a little easier with a shower attachment fixed to the taps. Well done though!

Hey man I'm sure you've heard this a thousand times, but incase no one has said it. Try using something on the bottom of the tub. Sometimes its the slippery footing + the water freaks them out. I've seen people use towels, baby products etc.

True or a rubber tub mat... Zeus did not like the slippery floor at the air bnb they went to it freaked him out.

My dog had the same reaction to her first bath. I found she was much calmer when I switched to a wash cloth.

Its just a bath but he was just so upset...made me feel guilty and hes not even my puppy...such a sweetie 🥺
