It's shrimp time!
One of the easiest ways to catch lots of fish is to pitch live shrimp under docks.
Everything from big snook to grouper to sheepshead will eat a live shrimp if it's in front of their face.
But there's one big problem...
When you fish live shrimp under docks, you're really likely to get snagged.
Between the pilings and debris under the docks, you've got a pretty slim chance of keeping all of the hooks you went out on the water with.
But there is one thing you can do to lessen your chances: rig your shrimp weedless.
In this video, you'll learn how to rig your live shrimp weedless and catch loads of fish under docks.
Have any questions about fishing shrimp under docks?
Let me know down in the comments!

Recently watched your video on rods, line and reels and carefully noted your experience with Ande mono vs fluorocarbon for leader and it being hardier. I’ve learned a ton salt strong can’t say thanks enough 👍

Luke, I use a GoPro camera in a waterproof case on my kayak for videos, but the audio is always really muted. What kind of microphone system do you use? It sounds really good.

Grouper are delicious! But the ones caught this day were way to small to keep (plus it was not grouper season).

Question for salt strong. If your just going to tear the tail off and cause your shrimp to die shouldn’t you just use dead shrimp?
@Saltstrong

Dead shrimp will certainly work too.

Luke, if your going out to specifically fish structure and throwin' weedless using bullet weights why not just use an actual 1 or 2 ought worm hook? IMO, it would be a better weedless presentation because of that small turn near the eye and it could go further down the shrimps body.

Thanks for leaving the helpful suggestion! I haven't tried a worm hook because I assumed that the sharp curve would be likely to tear the meat of the shrimp as it's slip up the shank to the top. But I'm sure that some careful movements will enable it to be done. I've just gone with the small j-hook because they are dirt cheap and they are mostly hidden inside the shrimp which is nice for getting the picky sheepshead to eat.

The hook is buried in only part of the shrimp, will it decrease the hookup ratio? I found out that the hook is too hard to penetrate the shrimp shell if the shrimp meat is too thick..any suggestions?

Do your shrimp stay alive in that bucket? Or do you have a pump on it?

I have used a 2500 Shimano CI4 for years do to it being so lite , I LOVE it for the solid dependable drag system and hardiness UNTIL it needs its first service, then it’s just never the same, no matter who services it. With all your experience have you found a more dependable super lite weight reel? I have arthritis and fish about 4-6 hours almost every day so need something lite. Thanks for any advise. Also , great way to rig a shrimp weedless, don’t know why I never thought of that myself🤓
