Soto was my favorite pitcher when I was a kid. In the early 80s , Reds fans had hope on the days Mario pitched. Other days, not so much. Soto might strike you out and he might fight you. 😁He was a great pitcher with a bad temper

the changeup is easily my favorite pitch in baseball. i feel like it's been really overlooked and underestimated for years, i'm glad Devin Williams showed how effective it can be this year

For sure one of the best but it's deff not over looked...zack greinke been throwing it for the last 10 15 years probably now 🤣 unlike the knuckle ball 😳 it's not overlooked, I feel like more of the people who don't know or play overlook it cuz they're all like you hit a 96 fastball but can't hit a 82 change and they're baffled lmao....we are to if we're not looking for one 🤣🤣

@@starfighter1043 I love how people that didn't play don't know. They say some hilarious things. Lol. I'd love to see 96 mph fastballs, only, all day. Gas is the easy stuff. Cutters, changeups, and sliders are the stuff of nightmares. You have to hit it on the sweet spot with a wooden bat. Those pitches are for making you miss that good contact. Or miss it completely.

Couldn't agree more. There's just something about the best changeups with all that arm side run and drop that just looks amazing and is so hard to hit. I also love the concept of fooling pitchers by varying speed. My favorite pitch easily although I also like sinkers and two seamers

That Devin Williams Airbender is such a unique and devastating pitch. He can shape it how he wants. He was striking dudes out with only his changeup on three consecutive pitches.

The crazy thing with Hoffman was that you knew his fastball barely hit 90mph. But you didn't kow whether the bottom would fall out of it about a foot from the plate. That guy had pinpoint accuracy with every pitch and when you thought he'd throw a fastball up and away on an 0-2 count, the next thing you knew was the ump ringing you up for a strike on the outside corner.

I remember learning the change-up in high school ( not major league necessarily) but when it was working it made pitching so easy. Ground balls, weak pop flys and strikeouts. Most hitters didn't even know what happened.

It's both. But you have to be able to sell the changeup as your fastball, so if you throw 100 it's going to be hard to throw a 70 mph changeup and fool anyone.
@mexicandruglordjerry5940
@mexicandruglordjerry5940 3 жыл бұрын
A fastball and change works in conjunction. You want a change that’s 12 mph slower, it can be higher, but if it’s lower, people will start to pick it up much better out the hand.
