When I saw it in theaters, Ryan's voice was in my head during the third act: Writer: So now the big boss ghost is headed to the fire station... Exec: Uh-ohh! Writer: Yeah, but since Phoebe's really smart, she's going to attach brass to her proton pack, which is the only way to make it work against the bad guy. Exec: Oh, that sounds smart all right! Writer: Yeah, so then all the Ghostbusters and the rest of the kids line up to meet the bad guy at the fire station entrance, and they're ready for their big ghost fight! Exec: Do they have brass on their proton packs too? Writer: What? No PHOEBE does, remember? She's the smart one! Exec: Oh-- Writer: --Yeah, so all the Ghostbusters and kids and the Firemaster all try to shoot their proton packs at the big boss ghost Exec: But didn't Phoebe tell them that wouldn't work on him? Writer: I don't know! Exec: By the way, where is Phoebe during this big faceoff? Writer: She's downstairs, talking to the girl ghost! Exec: Kinda seems like she's more needed upstairs, seeing as how she has that brass proton pack Writer: Well she isn't ok?! She's downstairs talking with the girl ghost about girl stuff!! It's more important right now! Exec: So does she rush upstairs? Writer: No, she's going to be talking down there for a very long time... Kumail also slides down the pole after she cuts the brass chunk out of it. It would also have been funny if he fell the rest of the way (as it is, the pole looks completely intact, oh well).

I noticed that Possessor steals the wax cylinder because it can awaken Garaka without the Phoebe plot, when the cylinder breaks Phoebe is the only one who can be tricked into doing it. Though I don't see how Garaka could have known that phoebe would do the soul extractor thing, presumably he was expecting something like Frank being suffocated in the Frighteners to happen allowing her to be controlled while dying but not yet dead.

They're introducing wizards? OK, technically either a D&D sorcerer or a really powerful pyrokinetic psychic or whatever, but shouldn't the old-school Ghostbuster guys be falling all over themselves to test him and see how his powers work considering that at least two of them are scientists and Winston has an entire facility full of specialists? Considering most 'magic' established in GB (including the cartoons) is either ritual based or object based, shouldn't having a human with the ability to directly manipulate the environment via supernatural means be right up their alley? I mean, magic stuff isn't knew to the franchise at all, it's pretty much the main source of ghosts and so on, they themselves simply use technology to fight them, since they got no magic stuff or at least don't see it as reliable enough to even try as long as they got their science magic going. First movie villain is a god summoned by a death cult with rituals, second movie villain is a powerful villain with massive magic powers and some kind of emotion vampire. The ghostbusters series is full of cults, magic, demons, even hell itself and apocalyptical settings. But yes, overall the Firemaster should have needed way more time, especially when the movie starst with their blood line. Cut out of the whole secret lab thing, which wasn't needed for anything at all (there are other solusion for the Phoebe becomes Ghost for a minute thing - which also would make much more sense) and maybe also do the whole Melody thing with focus on the Firemaster, too, especially since he got no clue about it (wonder what his grandma thought would happen by telling him shit), so an easy victim for manipulation. Hell, if you really want some vague girl/girl lovestory just make the character female, wouldn't change a thing. I get, that the seems to have tried to repeat the comedy around the gatekeeper/keymaster thing with him being the clown the whole movie, but that didn't really work that way, because in the first movie they were simply sacrifices, not some powerful blood line super magicians. Simply impossible to go from clown to superhero in such a short time without making it weird.

I liked the idea of one of the GB team befriending the non-hostile ghosts. Like they encounter one a bit like this Melody Character who knows of the GB and is afraid of being zapped. So the GB who finds the ghost agrees to shelter it because of an understandable curiosity they have of ghosts. Most they find are causing damage or hurting people so there's no time to attempt proper communications or reach common ground. But eventually their house is overrun with ghosts they've befriended over the months. They're like a person with too many cats.

There is a compelling dramatic irony in a ghostbuster befriending or falling in love with a ghost, but this film failed to fully explore and focus on that as its main core story. Dan Aykroyd's brass balls selling out his creation and starring in the soulless rapacity of a movie. Curmudgeon aside for a moment, that would've been a great way to tie in a character's backstory or C-plot. It also ties into the whole "Horny" nickname (know a trombone isn't a horn, but it's very similar). Much less bizarre than crafting a magic weapon with brass coating like a Dungeons & Dragons game. Actually, now I kinda want to use both brass-weapon and a brass instrument for a D&D campaign lol.

Now, on to the video!

I am *convinced* that movies like Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire are basically what happens when you have a script for a TV series, the studio won't greenlight it as a series, so you produce your pilot episode as a movie to try to convince the studio that it will be popular if they make it a TV series. In fact, given the animated TV series coming out based on this, that's *exactly* what Frozen Empire was.
