My pit mix was also returned to the shelter twice before we adopted her. All I can say is that it was their loss. She was the best dog I have ever known in my life. She went through everything with us... cross-country moves, welcoming our new babies and new dogs into the house. She loved all of us and we loved her back. We had 14 amazing years with her, and I'll miss her every day of my life. Love you, Halley girl, to the moon and back.

Bless you all for bringing her into your home. We adopted a young Australian cattle Dog that was said couldn't get along with other dogs and would be very difficult to train because of aggression. We had our beautiful boy Bishop for almost 15 years and he went everywhere with us, traveled all over the country and was my best hiking buddy in the world. It's been over 5 years and I still miss him every day ❤️🐾🙏

"All I can say is that it was their loss" Not always. Their dog may not have gotten along with a human or animal in those houses. They might have done the right thing.

@@AndyBluebear I saw the return reasons on the paperwork. The shelter shares that with potential adopters so they're aware of any possible issues. They were all BS reasons, like her being destructive of property or going to the bathroom inside, literally things that never happened the entire time we had her. But I'm obviously thrilled they returned her either way. She was mine and she was amazing.

My Pittie boy, Chevy, was returned to the Jefferson Parish Animal Shelter twice. He had been listed in the newspaper, featured on the morning news program, and even been a Grand Mashall in a pet Mardi Gras parade in the French Quarter called Krewe of Barkus. No one adopted him. All animal foster families are Angels. Without them these dogs and other animals wouldn’t have a chance to be rehabilitated from the abuse, trauma and neglect they’ve suffered, making it impossible to re-home them. If they’re unable to be re-homed, they’d be put to sleep. Cutting their lives so short through no fault of their own, when all they needed was love, and a chance to learn how to trust again. Every foster family that rehabilitates the animals are saving the life of every animal that comes into their care. I bought a Rat Terrier rescue male from a foster home that had been returned numerous times for a whole year. Took him home and he walked right into a life of total run of the house, no cages, big open door back yard and most of all a daily structured life. Took a couple hours and he was right at home and guarding the house by the next day.

My pibble Ozzy had 4 other homes before he came to live with me. He instantly bonded with me and would get extreme anxiety over other people coming near me. It was very clear that he was never shown how to relax and calm his anxiety. He would be on guard 24/7. But with lots of love, patience, treats, and training he now adores other people. We had to build up his trust that the 4 other homes had broken down. He is the love of my life. I swear rescue dogs just have a way to your heart like nothing else.

Thank you so much for showing the work that it takes. I have a part pittie part podenco rescue. Neglect and abuse were a double whammy. When humans create the damage, other human or humans have to take responsibility to help and rehabilitate. The damage done in the first 8 months of his life has taken now 4+ years and counting time to heal. And he is healing and progressing. 4+ years later my boy now trusts I'm the leader and he doesn't need to worry about other dogs or humans. He knows I'll always say hi first and always show him how we can walk away. And happy and secure, most importantly. And he now has a little sister (adopted)!

Pit bulls were bred specifically to fight so they are aggressive by their nature. Even if you introduce a pit bull into a home with another dog and they don't play together, eventually the pit bull will attack after it has established its territory. Basically, only those that play with them will earn their trust.

Have a lot of respect for these people, they took the time to work with the dog and help him adjust. We had a rescue named Molly who came home with us and only went to my wife at first. She even bit me twice because she didn’t like men. She was a middle aged dog and had a sad face when my wife left for work. It took about six months for her to adjust to us but she would come to me and let me love her up. The difference in her expression was obvious when we showed people pictures of her when we got her and then at six months after her adjustment. The smile was so obvious on her face. Sadly she developed cancer about a year later and her time with us was cut short, but she experienced true love from a human and was happy the time we said goodbye. God bless.

You all are amazing people!!!!!! The pitbull we own was brought back 4 times to the shelter, before he ended up with us. He's literally the most loving dog I have ever owned.

I am also a foster mom for dogs, a Texas Rescue. I would tend to have my fosters for weeks or months, seeking their perfect match. I grow so attached, and will cry and cry when they leave me. I pray they have perfect lives. But now I lost my daddy, and I can't foster now due to being there for my mom. Sometimes I must pack and head to the city my mom lives. I can't leave my foster babies, and in this situation, I can't even take my 3 I rescued. I wanna say thank u to all who does this very important job. With so much love, I can tell. Bless you, and I encourage others to help a rescue by being a foster parent. It is so rewarding. I just fall in love so quickly.

It’s really good to see you show the reality of rescue adoptions are not always perfectly easy from the start - but with patience and love all things are possible.
