Pixar is Making a Big Mistake

In a recent article, Pixar announced a big change in direction for their future movies, primarily in doing more sequels and spin-offs. This has come as a huge disappointment to many fans of the animation studio as it's been known for its original animated properties. Hope you liked the video! Pixar is in a tough spot. If they create original stuff, people hate it because it's not well created. If they create sequels, people hate it because it's not original. What do they do? I don't know if there's anything they CAN do.

@@stwbmc98 I'm not saying it's universal but if you look at some their recent films(like Lightyear, Turning Red, and Elemental, as Sold brought up), it's not well done, and it's slowly building a track record of less-than- to mediocre films

I think that was because they made a movie of the wrong character. They should’ve made a movie of Woody and Woody’s roundup. We already had enough backstory for Buzz we didn’t MORE

Honestly, I'd rather have Pixar make mediocre original stories than sometimes good soulless sequels.

I mean can you entirely blame them when their highest grossing movie , despite it's lukewarm critical reception, is Incredible 2 ? And god know Illumin ation studio made an entire buisness model of shovelling mass appeal mediocre movies and took up^to three Despicable ME, two suing and two minion s movie before the fatigue set in. Let's face it, financially, lowest commion denominator broad appeal just... kinda works.

So dissappointing. Soul, Luca and Turning Red could have made truckloads in cinemas if they had been released there. Elemental bombed because it was lame and derivative, not because it was personal. Look outside animation: Another around was the most Danish film ever (the national anthem is sung twice!) and everyone loved it.
