in In Lychee, you can recalc supports and its actually pretty good for small rotations like you were doing. drag select all the supports and ALT+R (or supports menu, first option) - its only selectable in prepare mode with manual support active

Happy to hear you with extra excitement after people rallied together to help you out! Great paint jobs from the community too, holy crap are so many people talented with a brush.

Benfett here, finally getting a chance to watch through the full video proper. Thanks for the kind feedback on my paintjob! Honestly had such an absolute blast with the print and paint. Seeing everyone's paintjobs come together all at the same time was such great inspiration fodder. Especially as someone who struggles often with staying dedicated to painting consistently. Love this idea, and will definitely be sticking around the Patreon and participating if the models are half as cool as this walker!

If you clean it before removing the supports and then put it in hot water (ca. 50 C), the supports will be MUCH easier to remove, and they will come off more cleanly.

Thanks for the great video! On the subject of removing the prints without gloves, I've found it's best to just err on the side of caution. Yes, the mount should be clean and safe, but all it takes is one moment of not paying attention with your grip and you start banging your knuckles against the resin-coated top of the plate. The scraper handle is also super easy to get resin on, even if you don't realize it: I had a scraper that I swore was clean, but the moment I put it under the curing light, I saw all the resin splatter on it. That convinced me to always be cautious with wearing gloves around uncured prints.

I literally have dentures that ive modified with it ive been wearing for over a year and a half with no health effects at all .. if i can have this stuff in my MOUTH its probably not gonna kill you if it touches your hand, especially if you wash it off.

Modelers model, supporters make those models printable, makers print those models. To do all three of those jobs well is more than challenging. This is the revolution going on right now. So, if a modeler can get you a beautiful model if YOU support and print and Paint, well there you go.

just switched to anycubics "tough" resin (not ultra just the standard), game changer! Much less viscous and less stressful than ABS-Like Resin for the printer, good quality prints, less exposure time. Prints are also tougher (less brittle). WIN WIN WIN

Yea, for the heater integration you suggest, you would require a redesign of the motherboard and probably a daughter circuit board. Plus a shell redesign which they probably didn't want to do. Anycubic just probably used all existing parts and just updated the printers resolution. Then instead of $450 ish, they would charge 600.

Got to the part about the spatula, and just wanted to suggest looking at Wham Bam magnetic build plates. Made my printing so much simpler. I attached the magnet to the build plate, put it on a flat hard surface, and put some weights on it overnight. Then just have to align the flex plate to the magnet. Print's done, remove the flex plate, you can drop that into your IPA no problem or flex it to get the raft to pop off. Almost never have to use a spatula these days. I usually wash it in IPA with the prints then after it dries it goes back on the build plate, but you can get extras so you can rotate them if you're doing lots of printing.

I'm pretty sure what AGN was doing when you were looking at his model, is demonstrating a chameleon-like cloaking mechanism. Like his mech was coming out of being camouflaged into its surroundings, which is why there's that crackling blue edge lighting just before the super textured legs as if it was trying to blend into a wall or high ground. I've seen people do something very similar with stealth Tau models.

Thank you man, your videos helped me take the plunge into resin printing. All of your tips and guides saved me incalculable amounts of time and headaches. In regards to the build plate scraping issue, I had been doing the same thing as you to get really stuck prints off my plate, but after 2-3 prints my prints would fail. I discovered that this was due to the fact that I was ever so slightly knocking the build plate off level each print due to the force I was applying to the plate. I would hold the top of the build plate where it attaches to the rail (as this was not covered in resin) which caused there to be some leverage on the levelling joint, I am sure this could be avoided by holding the build plate itself, or bracing it against something. I stopped doing this altogether and use a razor blade to lift the edge and then push my spatula under, often releasing the whole build plate in a few smooth passes. This might not apply to all printers but it did to me. If anyone calibrated and levelled their printer, got amazing prints and then a few prints later have fails, this could be your issue!

Sometimes a hammer is the best tool for the job ;) As far as the gloves go...Everything I've heard says every bit of resin that comes into contact with your skin increases the chances you'll eventually develop a strong reaction to it. If you want to continue this hobby for as long as you can, just use the gloves. If your eyes are all scratchy and red it's because you're using that UV light WO any eye protection.

When my prints get stubborn on the build plate, I grab the flattest blade for my hobby knife, one where the tip is squared off, and that's where the razor edge is, and I gently press that under the raft, then I can slip my spatula in under the razor.

ACF does cost an arm and a leg, nfep is much more reasonable and sharp though. Also if you have a smooth plate you should be able to get anything off it easily if you sharpen the spatchula, etched build plates are a different story, I'm gonna sand my s3u plate smooth or get a flex plate because it's awful to remove prints.

You should get a flex plate. Then you won't have to hack away and potentially damage prints to get them off the build plate.

23:30 I find the best thing to do is not attack the print bed with a spatula, but to get my snips that I use for my filament printer or a pair of needle nose plyers and GENTLY grab a support near the edge of the base. I pull it a bit until I see the base lift a little bit from the build plate, then take plastic spatulas and push there. Once the vacuum is broken the part usually falls right off. No need to beat the build plate with the spatula (which is what I used to do too).

Great video mate! Instead of one video, this really could have been many (M5s Pro/ Resin Review, Model/ Support Review, Print and Paint, Discord reactions, etc.) Not saying you should break it up into as many 10 minute chunks as possible, but a couple of smaller videos might help with algorithm/ KZfaq points. Also, I see someone else posted that the resin is $61.5 US per kg, but AnyCubic does have a 5 for $200 bundle (so only $40 per kg), which makes this a lot more palatable. I mainly do FDM, and while I normally use ~$20 ABS, I have printed plenty of specialty filaments at that $40 per kg premium tier. Maybe a good video idea would be a shootout of some budget resins? I see some down at $15 per kg prices.

That resin is a really good deal $61.50 for 3 1gk bottles I may try some, I've been buying siraya tech resin. I bought 2x 5kg bottles of ABS-like Fast resin navy grey on blackfriday, weirdly they didn't charge me tax, cost $255 flat, so waiting to burn through that.

Careful, I made the same mistake when I first saw that pricing too - it's actually $61.50 per 1kg bottle, but if you buy 2 you get a 3rd free. So it works out to be $41 per bottle. Still not too bad, but definitely not as good as 3 for $61.5 haha

Great vid! The only issue I see with creators showcasing their models in your vids is that GW will use your them as a resource to target creators. I know everyone dumps on the plastic spatula but I find it works better than the metal scrapper. If you have a raft with an angled lip. The models just fall of the plate with very little force, bit of a wriggle side to side on the more stubborn rafts. That's my experience anyway. Maybe try it and see how it goes. Can't wait till that resin is available. Perfect for flight stands.
