@@JohnDoe-xf8ew I imagined the lead singer as having some arm tattoos and being fit and ripped and to have a more masculine looking face. I first heard of the Pixies by hearing David Bowie rave on and on and on about them in an interview. After hearing the amazing Doolittle album and the intensity of the lead singer's vocals, I wasn't expecting him to be such a normal looking guy

Just in case you were wondering about the lip sync, this is from Wikipedia: "By Bossanova, the band had developed a severe aversion to recording music videos, and Francis refused to lip-sync to them. For example, in the "Here Comes Your Man" video, both Black and Deal open their mouths wide instead of mouthing their lyrics. According to the record label, this became one of the reasons that Pixies never achieved major coverage on MTV."

I see people laughing at the really bad lip syncing but the reason for this is because Pixies infamously hated lip syncing and the only way they could come close is to just open their mouths wide. While intially done as a protest action, this intentional bad lip syncing actually makes the video more entertaining in the end.

When I heard this song as a teenager, the riff just seemed silly to me, but I was also in a very different place when it comes to guitar playing, I was going through my virtuoso phase so the simplicity of a riff like this just felt flat. The older I get and more I listen, this riff easily moves into my top 5 favorites. It's playful, driving, a little bluesy, and dressed in the traipsing of surf rock sensibility. Joey's musical palate is rich and seemingly evergreen, their new stuff is still pretty damn good.

Just for saying I got last on foot in Bedford Stuyvesant and wound up in Brownsville people could tell I was ghetto but I am White but not what white people are like. Old junky asks "You wouldnt be from Boston by chance? Yeah. Oh. Tells people "Boston has ghetto poor White Folk. That why he's nervous but not punk scared." I wanted drugs and he ran a hit house-not a Gallery-and its dark now and he helped me score and said stay until morning-WE don't wander away from our block. Puerto Rican girl cooked food and I end up fucking her all night. Next day she gives me half bottle of Kwell and says "use it right now and they should be gone but I'll walk you to the way out too.."Lower East Side. Attorney St. 300 year old tenement that I stopped paying rent on a year ago. Nobody does but me and some woman started and keep getting 6 month stays." She knew the building. "Where did ALL the cats come from?" I started grabbing cats and set up the basement and they were now running the hallways-other people were down with it but it was odd-they formed a functional colony and they-some just acknowledged me others thought I was some Cat Alien-all this cat kill around my door. It worked though. Rat's stayed hidden and I knew cats can live on insects and water on grass and leaves in the morning. The Hit House guy-Dale said I was welcome no questions. I didn't get crabs. One day I stopped by and the people were really sad and Dale took me aside. She'd been murdered-real sick shit. I still haven't cried since 10 yo but I really wanted too. I couldnt which made everything more depressing. One woman said "You're half dead yourself you're Survival Material. I said I was going to make one of those pathetic Shrines because it was all I could do (dude turned himself in 3 hours afterwards-they never would have found her for months. I saw photos. Guy hung himself in Rikers after admitting to 2 more. The Pixies were actually found by A&R btw and purposely kept quiet so they could be a NYC band (that could be myth but who I heard it from is LEGITIMATE. Kurt was from Aberdeen which wasn't talked about until way later.) YIKES KAT-shitting up YT comments one post at a time with pointless bullshit. I met Lou Reed twice-2nd time he approached me-"Remember me?" I still laugh about that. I also forget he's dead all the time for just long enough for it to suck when I remember. Wouldnt you die for something pretty?

One of the most influential bands of the last 20 years. Very influential for alternative and indie rock of the last two decades. There wouldn't be any "Smells Like Teen Spirit"s, nor any Weezer's "Pinkerton" album, nor any "Creep" song by Radiohead if it wouldn't exist any Pixies music. I'm going to see them live here in Colombia next year. I can't wait!!!!!

Zachary Freis That's right, just like The V.U. There was a famous statement about that: "While the first Velvet Underground album may have sold only 30,000 copies in its early years, "everyone who bought one of those 30,000 copies started a band.". Or this one by Gary Smith: "I've heard it said about The Velvet Underground that while not a lot of people bought their albums, everyone who did started a band. I think this is largely true about the Pixies as well."

I can still remember the first time I heard this song 30 years ago. A friend and I were driving home from a weekend trip. He put a cassette-tape (you may need to look this up...) a girl had recorded for him into the stereo, and suddenly it started playing with that unforgettable TWANG. It immediately stuck in my head. And although he hated it, I rewound played it again around ten times. Since then I never have to think for a second when someone asks me what my favorite song is.
