Pizza Pasta - Punch-Out!! (Arcade)

Pizza Pasta is one of the two characters that got lost to time, along with Kid Quick (from the same arcade game). Kid was eventually replaced by Disco Kid, and based on looks alone, I'd say ol' Pasta here got usurped by Don Flamenco. To that end, I've put Don Flamenco's background music in here since the arcade game had none.
Pizza Pasta is from Naples, Italy, and his special move is to... grab onto you and do an uppercut? Whatever. When you dodge it, you can turn his face inside-out. This particular move got adapted to the SNES version of Aran Ryan, where he additionally saps away your Stamina and adds it to his own. In the original arcade game, though, it just makes for an easy knockdown. I've had times where Pizza Pasta didn't get back up after the second knockdown, but this was not one of them.
Doing a quick search for Pizza Pasta on KZfaq didn't yield any relevant results, so here I am uploading my own. Courtesy of MAME and my laptop capturing its own video line output.

Pizza Pasta most likely later became Aran Ryan, because they both have grab attacks. According to Punch-Out!! series creator Genyo Takeda in his Punch-Out!! Wii interview, Pizza Pasta's name comes from how hard it is to punch and knead the pizza dough down.

French fries are from Belgium, the terms "french" was used during I don't remember which war between England and France, where the english started to use French as a adjective to mean gross. So basically we are talking about gross fries. The same it was for the "french" kiss. I am here because Italian btw.

I'm white, and although not Italian by blood, I have family who are Italian including brothers and a sister. I do not see Pizza Pasta as racist, and my Italian family members would likely get a good laugh out of Pizza Pasta. People need to untwist their panties, and realize that satire and stereotypes can be good and healthy as long as they inspire people to learn more about cultures.

Believe it or not, you can knock Pizza Pasta out with only one down, but you have to not suffer any damage, and you have to dodge his clinch. Once you dodge his clinch, he'll start flurrying like he does when he "gets serious", but you can do it.

Aran Ryan does have all of Pizza Pasta's moves + some more. The OG Pizza moves look exactly the same just re-skinned with the Aran Ryan model just like a few characters in the Arcade version of Super Punch-out.

I get the impression the SNES Punch Out devs originally planned to use Kid Quick and Pizza Pasta but then later reskinned them to Bob Charlie and Aran Ryan. Would make sense being they brought back Bear Hugger, Piston Hurricane and Dragon Chan.

@shinra358 Punch-Out's controls are not "laggy" in the least. If you're getting lag then play on the real hardware, rather than MAME. Also, you may have confused game design for lag. For example, you can't throw a punch when you are in the process of already throwing a punch, being punched, blocking, or dodging. When your control input is valid, the response is instantaneous. When your control input is invalid, nothing happens.

@Superpizzabros no,it isnt because Punch out came out for the NES right after this was in the arcades,with a few minor changes to characters (Piston Honda instead of Piston Hurricane and Soda Popinski instead of Soda Drunkenski).Super Punch outr came out for theSNES years after that so,its obvuois Pizza Pasta was modled after Don Flamenco,not Aran Ryan!!!

I think Aran Ryan might have been his replacement. Think of it like this, Piston Hurricane, Bear Hugger, and Dragon Chan were all in the SNES Super Punch Out, and Ryan uses Pizza Pasta's signature move. Every circuit in the SNES game features a character from the arcade Punch Outs, not including Bald Bull, Sandman, and Super Macho Man.

According to the Punch-Out wiki, he's a palette swap of Piston Hurricane and that Aran Ryan's special move is a superior version of Pizza Pasta's, where he not only grabs his opponent but also regains his health.

@MaximRecoil every other game in mame plays fine. the way this punchout plays is its internal controls. there are no hardware lags for almost all the games I have for mame. i also remember playing this game at chucky cheese when it was connected with mario in one of those nintendo machines back in he early 90s. i thought the same way i'm thinking now. it's pretty difficult to play :P. But you may continue with your clearlys, actuallys, obviouslys, and technicallys. To me, it was tuesday.
