▬ Story this of this video ▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬▬
Firstly, a Pride of 10 Lions appeared unsuspectedly on Alpha Loop a side-road close to Skukuza Camp.
On the second day of sighting, two days later in the heat of the day, the same Lion pride hunts down a Cape Buffalo in the Sabie River at Bravo Loop just a couple of kilometres downstream.
The footage was taken by Gerry Smit and his guests from Kruger Gateway Safaris.
The next morning the Lion pride was joined by an opportunistic Nile Crocodile and a feisty herd of Elephants that did not want the carnivores close to their favourite drinking hole. They are seen chasing the lion and protecting their calves.
The first and the last sighting was seen with Private Kruger Safaris guides Hennie Bekker & Bernhard Bekker and their guests.
The result of the movie is an amazing short film focussing mainly on animal behaviour in the wild. We were lucky to capture some unusual behaviour that played out during these 3 consecutive days on film.
The battle for survival is an ongoing daily fight for wild animals and if you come to The Kruger National Park it is exactly why we recommend doing multiple-day safaris in The Kruger instead of just a single-day drive as a multiple-day safari offers the guest the bigger picture and they have the chance to witness amazing animal behaviour for themselves.
Special thanks!

I want to mention that the lion and croc are showing respect to each other by leaving each other alone and letting one another eat without the threat of violence to one another. It’s understood the lions are king of the land and the crocs are king of the water. So respect is given for that. There are no other wild animals outside these 2 that could dare be that close while eating.

Kruger is a must see for everyone! The interactions between different animals are like TV soap drama, this place writes its own stories! Also, crocodiles and lions sharing food (albeit uncomfortably) seems to be more common than I'd previously believed.

@@greatdane4672 -Black caiman are actually quite large -Caimans skin is nearly identical to that of crocs as they are of the same species -Jaguars have one of the strongest bites of all cats, stronger than lions -My point was that crocodilan skin isn't tough enough to withstand bites due to the fact that their skin can be pierced, regardless of what size they are-adult or not. There are many videos where a croc would retreat to the water when threatened by a tiger or a lion pride not to mention that there are vids of crocs being bullied or killed by hippos & elephants but I'm not talking about a fight between beasts. I'm saying that they don't have skin that's impenetrable.

@@mutualdecline2174 no bru that's not true I never saw a video that elephants or hippos killing a crocodile never ever but I saw some videos crocodile attacked elephant Or crocodile attacked hippo 🦛 And they have thick armour that can't be pierced that's scientifically proved that it's bulletproof and lions can't pierce it with their jaws or any other big cat. If, we talk about tigress that killed croc was old and unhealthy if you saw that video then see that crocs skin it's too dry and that period was a dry season and that croc was searching for a watering hole and for your kinda information that tigress took 13 hours to kill that mugger croc and lost her 2 canines. All the statements are proved by Indian geographers and researchers.

Some interesting facts of the Kruger Park The 2 000 000 hectares Kruger National Park in South Africa can only be described as huge! It’s about the same size as the whole of Israel, a little smaller than Belgium and about a third of the size of Ireland. The Kruger Park is approximately 360 kilometers long, has an average width of 65 kilometers and, at its widest point, it is 90 kilometers from east to west. There is a network of some 1800 kilometers of well maintained roads and the Reserve has 21 rest camps, 2 private lodge concessions, and 15 private safari lodges! “Huge” extends beyond land area: It his home to 336 tree, 49 fish, 34 amphibian, 114 reptile, 507 bird and 147 mammal species.

There was no need to attack, the croc laid there silently not making any aggressive sounds or movements. That and the lions were worn out. During their long rest and eating period, they sensed little to no threat. The croc understood how best to behave in that type of situation and it worked out well enough. It seemed to only be interested in an easy meal, like a vulture. A well played tactic indeed.

You're right. Even a salt water croc would think twice before approaching a tiger kill, so forget about a croc approaching a couple of tiger feeding. That would be suicidal for any croc, unless its really massive. Lions are most effective in groups. They don't specialize in water or have much experience in dealing with crocs single-handedly. Ive seen single full grown male lions only intimidate crocs but never try to go in for a kill. This is one of the distinctive reputation that separates both the lion and tiger.

@CHRIS SAVAGE Fyi, there's no caiman in India. They are mostly in central and South America. Another FYI, tigers aren't afraid to go into crocodile territory and have been known to attack and kill these reptiles on their own. Salt water crocs are bigger and faster than nile crocs.
