Hey man, my map pops up, but is only staying there for a second after i click the button. It opens and then automatically closes and goes back to my main layout screen. Any ideas?

The meta-data tag should read android:name="com.google.android.geo.API_KEY" It should be within the tag in the Manifest.

I solve this problem. In google console you need to activate the places API as well. You need both: maps, Places.

check whether you might not enter the API key to the values. that was my problem i went through all the google forums but finally i found my mistake. resources>values>google_map_api ....... enter your api
