This video will show how to leverage iLogic designs by demonstrating the Place iLogic Component command. The video will show how to link parameters from the main assembly to the iLogic subassembly.

In response to Nick's question, the Place iLogic Component is not compatible with Frame Generator assemblies. I discovered that while creating this example. In this example I used the Content Center to create custom channels, and my iLogic rule pushes parameter values into the individual channels.

I can't seem to place an iLogic assembly with Frame Generator parts. Does your rail assembly not use frame generator?

I have a problem when i place an Ilogic assembly (i will call it is A) into another larger assemble (Call it is B) which contains A. when i placed A into B, the accessories of A which i had written commands in a rule of Ilogic, it would be changed the name as well as a new assembly from A. but the content of rule in new assembly didn't change anything. so the rule of new A couldn't find them, and condition changes(height dimension) of those components didn't run when i chose some choice in a form box. exactly, after placing A into B, A was became A-01, A-02... but the content in the rule of new assemble A-01, A-02 don't change anything, it still keeps the content exactly like A. therefore, every dimension which i chose, it didn't work. I know this video had made since 2012, but could you please help me do it again and share me content of rule of ilogic in your drawing?

Here is a link to where you can download the model. a360.co/1MHnhRf One possible cause to your problem is the browser node names. iLogic uses the browser node names for components. Since the Place iLogic Component command copies the assembly, it is likely renaming the browser nodes. A way to prevent this is to give the browser nodes static names. This is done by editing the name of the browser node. Just simply removing the ":" is enough for the software to see that you edited the name of that specific node. You will have to edit the iLogic code to match the new browser nodes. If this doesn't work, let me know. I would be happy to look at a model for you, if you would like to send me one.

You would need to model your components with parameters. At the assembly level, you can have the parameters that drive the size of the door. Then your iLogic rules will then distribute the parameters into the necessary files, if calculations need to be done, it is possible to include those in an iLogic rule or parameter definition. Hello. I am 7 years behind. I also used the Content Center to create custom channels, and it works for the first placing. But when the second placing has different size, it affects the first one's size. Can you tell me what the solution is? I try to download your file at the previous comments, but the link is no longer working now. If you still have the file, can you share the file here again?

When you are placing from the Content Center, Inventor will generate an ipt of the channel you need. That ipt of the channel will have a specific length. If you need a different file of a different length, you will need to create a separate ipt. If you run the Place From Content Center command again and specify a different length, it should create a second ipt from that channel's family with the new length. If it is somehow effecting the first channel you created, you will need to look at the column in your Content Center Family that determines what the name of the IPT will be. Often times with a channel, it will prompt you to add a length or distinguishing attribute to the file name. Often, I add the length attribute to the file name formula to account for different lengths of the channel.
