From one fabulous London eight to another - these were also visited and filmed on Sunday 8th July 2018 - a true treat of a day!
Ringing here is from a quarter peal of Plain Bob Major, rung by the Lilliputters Guild. As you can probably surmise from my wet shirt, it was a scorcher of a day, and we had just walked up and over Hampstead Heath to get here!
Hampstead have featured on my channel previously, but it was a pleasure to return. A short clip of the Stedman peal (recorded 26th July 2015 by John Pladdys) is included at the end of this video; the full clip is elsewhere on my channel. :-)
The bells are formed of four 1938 Gillett and Johnston bells (1,3,5,8, transferred from St Luke, Cowley, Oxford via the Keltek Trust), which are matched superbly with four modern Whitechapel castings (2,4,6,7). They were hung by Matthew Higby & Co in 2005 to mark the church's 150th anniversary, and replace an old ring of 3 (tenor 6-0-13) which were provided for the church clock in the 1870's and later adapted for change ringing. Whilst you can clearly hear the new and old bells in the ring, this does not affect the quality of the ring.
