Being as last time we never visited any southside spots on our visit to Manchester, I thought it was well overdue this time, so once leaving the AVP I made sure we went to the woodend lane southside rotation hill, one of the best spots in the country for plane spotting! I do aim to do an 05R landings video here one day, but for now this is afternoon departures. I'm afraid by time we got here, around half 1pm, most of the transatlantic heavies had all departed, however there were still a few left, of which we caught, we missed the Virgin 747 by minutes!
The sun had also came out now, and it made for some nice summery weather, despite being a bit chilly in the 18kt winds, I thought it was nice that it felt summery and have a load of flights departing to Summery destinations like Corfu and Lanzarote, it added the feel to the video, and hopefully makes people watching it want to go on holiday
There was also an interesting incident which saw the closure of Runway 23L due to Foreign Object Debris, FOD being dropped across the runway, it was certainly interesting to see, thanks to the wind the debris got blown across the runway and needed a road sweeper to come and clear the runway, resulting in the closure for about 40 minutes, where Runway 23R became temporary single runway for the time being
