This movie makes me miss John Candy even more. He seemed like such a great person, both on and off camera, and nobody ever seems to say a negative word about him. Much like Del Griffith, John Candy was the "Real Deal, what you see is what you get." Rest in peace, John Candy. Also, John Candy should've gotten an Oscar for this movie. He makes me laugh and cry so hard every time I watch it.

John Candy is so endearing, it’s not even fair. He could play such annoying characters, or even a weasel like Johnny LaRue on _SCTV,_ and still make you like him so much. That’s something that has to come naturally.

"You shared a motel room with a complete stranger? Are you crazy?" "Not yet. But I'm getting there." Happy Thanksgiving! 😎 🦃 Fun Fact: Film debut of Dylan Baker and Susan Isaacs. Turkey Dinner Fact: After the credits, Neal's (Steve Martin) boss is still at his desk analyzing the ads, his Thanksgiving dinner sitting on his desk. New House Fact: Neal's (Steve Martin) house was also a set built from scratch, consisting of seven rooms, and taking five months to complete. It ended up costing $100,000, which angered Paramount executives, and caused turmoil on the set. Crazy Rant Fact: The Marathon Car Rental scene is exactly one minute long from the time Steve Martin starts his tirade to the time the attendant ends the scene. In that sixty seconds, the "F" word is used nineteen times. The film would've easily been rated PG or PG-13 by the MPAA, if it weren't for this one scene. Barking Dogs Fact: "My Dogs Are Barking" is an American idiom. The word "dogs" means feet and the word "barking" means hurts. The expression "my dogs are barking" can be traced to cartoonist Tad Dorgan, who worked for the New York Evening Journal and was popularized throughout the world by American servicemen.

❤ Aside from the awsome zany comedy of this classic it really teaches a lesson at the end to not make snap judgments of a person. To get to know them better seeing what they are going through and we rellize this was the case with John Candy’s characters loss of his loving wife the loniness he felt, a big hole in his heart missing and all he needed was a good friend to listen and some comfort. Like HOME ALONE this is a movie you can watch every holiday season and it never gets old. Just wonderful Natalie 👩🏻‍🦰 & Michelle 👩🏻 🤗

The emotional reunion with Neil and his wife comes from some stuff that was cut from the film. In the original cut, she got more and more convinced that Neil was cheating on her... due to a previous incident of infidelity. That's why Neil was in such a hurry to get an early flight. So at the end shes relieved that he was telling the truth.

Excellent choice for the holiday ladies. It's hard not to tear up at the end when Neil realizes Dell's situation and invites him home. To this day, that scene where they go between the semi trucks has me rolling and the scene at the rental car counter. I always thought that Neil's wife's reaction was odd but later I found out that there is a whole subplot that was left out of the final cut. Neil has been spending a lot of time away from home and his wife thinks that he might be cheating. She thinks that he is lying about why he isn't home. When he finally makes it home and she realizes that Dell is real and he has been honest with her, she is so relieved. There's other stuff that was cut. There's a scene where we get to see the beer cans explode on the vibrating bed, you see Dell get a pizza delivered and go into Neil's wallet and, the pizza kid is the one that robs them. Happy Thanksgiving.

I read that Steve Martin mentioned that he and John Candy became very close during the filming and were always cracking each other up. But what makes me sad and tear up at the end of this movie every time was remembering that in addition to becoming close friends with John, Steve Martin said he felt there was a lot of loneliness in John and that there wasn't a lot of distance between the character Del Griffith and John Candy. By the time editing done for the theaters, two hours worth of film was cut. The reason why Neal's wife always seems on the verge of tears is because she was worried he was having an affair. It was left out because John Hughes felt for a touching comedy, it was a deep enough story. Also, the kid that broke in to the hotel room was the delivery boy that got stiffed on a tip.

I saw this in the theatre, Nov/87. I fell in love with John Candy and Steve Martin back in the Mid-70s. Right at the start Steve with his stand-up and hosting SNL and John with SCTV. I loved SNL(75-80) and SCTV! But I loved SCTV more. Comedy was the best from 1975-1985. You had the best comedy troops, Monty Python, SNL, SCTV. Most members of these troops would become Movie-Stars over the next decade. The best Stand-Up Comedians of all time Richard Pryor, George Carlin, Steve Martin, Eddie Murphy, Robin Williams, Rodney Dangerfield.

I was born in 87. I never have been a fan of Steve Martin… mostly because he was before my time. But I did like Bringing Down the House from 2003.

Out of all the video I have watched on this channel two things remain true. 1. Michelle with 2 Ls, is absolutely , drop dead gorgeous. Where can I put in my application? 2. They remind me of Romy and Michelle. Not in a bad way whatsoever. Love the reactions!

John Candy. Hearing about him and John Belushi being serious monsters of having Wild times?? This movie and ' Uncle Buck ' plus Belushi's ' Animal House ' will always give me flash backs to the 80's ... This film has not aged and Michelle and Natalie, A Thank You for laughing and smiling with me. Cheer's Gorgeous Ladies.xx 🇬🇧. Edit is this - Suggestion:: A religious and Christmas movie is ' Exorcist 3 ' you'll love it.xx

I wish people would stop comparing John Candy to John Belushi and Chris Farley… Candy was nothing like those 2! Candy was actually a respectable actor, Belushi and Farley weren’t. I think it’s very shallow that you compare them all just because they were all “overweight”

Another Steve Martin film to see is Dirty Rotten Scoundrels where he appears opposite Michael Caine as a pair of con men joining up to fleece rich widows in the South of France. Expect to see Lady Fanny of Omaha and Ruprecht amongst others.

I've seen multiple reactors watch this, and y'all are the first ones to laugh at the Chatty Cathy doll part. We used to watch this at my grandparents' house with my mom, dad, brother, cousins, aunts, and uncles, and we were cracking up at that part (and the whole movie). I've been disappointed that so many reactors are poisoned by political correctness and sensitivity training to the point that they've been trained to not laugh. It was so refreshing to see y'all enjoying the *comedy* in a *comedy* movie. Thanks for the great reaction!

There was a sub plot that didn`t make it to the final movie where Steve martins wife thought the reason he was taking so long to get back home was because he was having an affair, that`s why she looks so happy at the end realizing he wasn`t.

@@vahaneloyanmy favorite Steve Martin movie was Bringing Down the House. The reason I like that movie the most was because most of his other movies were before my time. But me and my family saw Bringing Down the House when it first came out in theaters in 2003, I was 16. I’ve never really seen any other Steve Martin movies except this one and Bringing Down the House

They built the house especially for the film as there were going to be a lot more scenes in there, but they were all cut.

How's does he know where we're going ? ) love this movie it's right up there with my all time fav holiday movies, jingle all the way starring Arnold schwarzenegger, and Xmas vacation starring Chevy Chase..
