I have a soft spot for games in this complexity band. Easy to teach, yet the most skilled player is almost always going to win. It's a nice sweet spot for a game in a collection as its not so overwhelming that your casual gamer friends will be climbing the walls during the teach, but a competitive group will also have a good, low luck challenge.

After the KS campaign, Adam decided the S.U.S.A.N is critical to the game and will be available in the hobby (retail) edition. The only differences between retail and deluxe edition are wooden meteors and lifepods versus plastic, single layer player boards versus triple layer, 6 additional planets in deluxe edition, and wooden first player marker versus cardboard.

Great review. It's really a certified banger of a game. While there are quibbles with the manual or production (not really for me, personally), I think the game does so much right -- the ease of setup, quickness of play, simple and fun choices. And then the added complexity of asymmetrical corps and planets keeps it going long term, as does the use of private objectives, etc. It's a winner.

Great 3 minute summary! My game should ship tomorrow. It’s taken me 8 months to find one to buy. Game mechanics look great and it’s fantastic that is supports 1 to 6 players.

I backed the KS and pleased that I did. One of my favorites and the Lazy Susan is great.

Well now it's gonna be impossible to play this without singing every time the tile container is spun! 😂😂😂 Easy to set up and teach, but with strategy that increases with the players skill is a win for us as we love introducing games to people, and that kind of set up is perfect as many have been put off by games that a too long in the front end or too confusing if you don't have core games skills under your belt.

Great game, having a lot of fun with a group of 6 old novices who hate too many rules but like to think and argue. Really happy I backed this one.

Funnily enough the background track for this one is the same as the intro/outro music for the Polyhedron Collider boardgame podcast. Was trying to work out where I'd heard it before.

I have this thing where music pops into my head based off environmental cues. I'm almost constantly humming that song while we play.

I kinda like that its in the sweet spot of light enough to teach to most. But still having good decision points. I think a good player will beat poor players everytime as there is almost zero luck

@@3MBG Q: Would you rather play this or your friend's copy of Isle of Cats? Because the theme of this game seems forgettable given all the great space-themed games out there.

@@CarlosRodriguez-ez3ls The power ups, variety of planet boards (variable player powers) , and simultaneous tile selection makes this game much more enjoyable than Isle of Cats for my group.

@@CarlosRodriguez-ez3ls Its a coin toss as both games are good. I like the lessons system in cats a lot, but the simultaneous play probably puts unknown ahead. I'd say for 2-3 people, Isle of cats, 4+ Planet Unknown as it scales much much better

Definitely. Each time I open mine it is chaos. Everything is everywhere. I said that in my review too. Very bad decision. If you store your games vertically as I do. And if you store them one on top of the other the lid can't close all the way down without a lazy susan pushing the lid up. But other than that...epic game. Love every little bit of it. :)

Ah, i've been storing mine flat. And only moving it from shelf to table. Fair enough. I am the worst person to judge how well games travel as 99% of my gaming is in my Whare Kemu (Games House)

Question: What does the infamous “kiara koto” at the beginning to all your vids mean?

kia ora koutou - It is a greeting in Te Reo Maori, one of the official languages of Aotearoa/New Zealand. "Kia ora" in this context is basically "hi" And "koutou" is a suffix used to denote that you are addressing a group. The closest word in English oddly enough is the American "Y'all" So it's basically "Hi Y'all"

I really like playing it solo. You choose 20 event cards and the type (green - mostly good events, yellow - some good some bad events, or red mostly bad events). These event types adjust how many victory points you need to win. Each turn you rotate the SUSAN one spot and play the top event card until all 20 rounds are complete.

Is it true that the retail edition has been canceled? Oh wait, I’m half right. The Kickstarter retail edition has been canceled but there will be a hobby edition at retail and it will include the lazy Susan.

@@3MBG missing out on 6 planets kind of hurts, wish they could be sold separately (at a marked up price to not offend Kickstarter backers.. triple layer board too.).

I suspect they will come out in an expansion if it does well. This game got cursed in timing due to the whole shipping and supply crisis

Yeah, music is super subjective and personal. Sorry it didn't work for you, i do try to keep it as inoffensive as possible, its just there to create a feeling of "momentum" in the video
