When I was young, we didn't have central heating or insulation. We sometimes had ice on the insides of the windows, as a kid I would watch my breath to see how cold it was. We had 3 bar fires that we sat round. I honestly can't remember anyone dying. We just put on an extra jumper!

Practically all the houses in Britain have lofts with mineral wool and cavity walls and are thus insulated.
@tommyrotton94682 жыл бұрын
and I heard Mike say not all homes could be insulated and that's bollocks. You aren't limited to cavity walls as you could put internal insulated panels on walls, floors and ceilings. In Medieval times they used tapestries on castle walls as the old adage is layers keep the heat in. The problem is it will cost the tax payers a fortune to do the insulations and MPs will just get crony mates richer.

@@tommyrotton9468 I've been insulating building since 1982 when I was involved on the pilot scheme to test the feasibility insulating houses around the South west coastline from Portishead to the Isle of White. We then went on to insulate Towerblocks all over the UK, and in Holland, Germany and Jersey. Then for a quite a few years we Insulated social housing stock right across the UK and Government buildings. There has been many government schemes including the Green Deal and the Warmer homes directive when inner city social housing was tackled on a huge scale across the UK, along with biomass and heat exchange. We've been paying for it for years, it already costs hundreds per year on all bills.

All new... Ive no chance of insulating my home unless they stick a horrible skin round my house. My house was built in 1900.... They can whistle if they make it mandatory.... If mine and next doors got insulated (externally) we wouldn't be able to take the bins down the alley 🤣

@@spex357 I can well believe it. I lived in a rented room up in Wales when the EU offered grants to the locals. Fun times living in a mould infestation room after they striped the old exterior for the new one, a year later. Soon as the work was done the landlord sold the house for a profit no doubt.
@spex3572 жыл бұрын
@@tommyrotton9468 A lot of the old formerly draughty houses had new windows fitted as well as insulation and often had the Chimney removed, which cut air flow through the house drastically, and mould was as common as horse muck used to be. Latest covid advice is open the windows, the same applies for mould. In a fully insulated draught proof house, your breath alone is enough to cause mould in stagnant air areas, never mind the twintub and mangle or cooking. Yes this has been a Europe wide directive, and that's why we all left the country during Thatcher, to help insulate Europe and the Channel Islands first, after years of wandering around here saying gizza us a job, after 11 million had become quickly unemployed after joining the EU.

Think on this... 1. Fossil fuels are the result of millions of years of continuous plant growth. 2. Where globally are fossil fuels found.. just about everywhere? 3. How many areas, once covered in thick forest, and that once produced fossil fuels are now deserts, or scrubland? 4. When the plants were growing where did they get the CO2 from.. the atmosphere? 5. When there were high levels of CO2 in the atmosphere, were the temperatures so high that plants, insects, animals, etc couldn't grow? 6. At that time did the surface of Earth resemble that of Venus? 7. If the fossil fuels are burnt and the CO2 is returned to the atmosphere where it once was, won't the plants once again increase globally, and produce the oxygen we need?
