Casey, thank you. I received your email and had to find this video. Last summer I stopped everything…planning, walking my dog, caring about almost everything. I have 4 daughters who longer speak to me and all had babies in the span of 5 months. Depression hit me hard. I don’t drink because their father is an alcoholic and I didn’t want that stigma. I chose food to make me happy. A few months ago God sent me another person who is going through estrangement. To talk to them is so eye opening and let me know I’m not alone. I’m now back to my Bible and know that God has me on this journey to help other people experiencing this. He is a wonderful God and everything is in His time. I’m back to planning and will be ordering your self care line and stickers. I will add you to my prayer list also…alone time with Him is amazing. Thank you for sharing your story…and so grateful you are ok and on your way to amazing things!

OH EM GEE...you are most def a God send. I mean that whole heartedly. And coming from someone that has literally struggled with mental health entire life, this came right on time. I'm 50 now. I had always thought mine had stemmed from a "situation" that occurred when I was 8yo, and back then; everyone just kept things "hush hush", so to speak. You know, just sweep it under the rug and just forget about it. And now that I'm older, and looking back, its like they were more worried about what everyone would think or say about them, rather than get me the helped, I truly needed. Not only did it effect me on so many levels with what happened, I also realized it effected my trust in the ones that were suppose to protect me, if that makes any sense. And not in the exact same way, but of lot of our story is alike. Although, I had turned to narcotics to self medicate, cause tbh, at the time, id much rather had felt numb than to feel what i was feeling sober. I didn't start off with the mindset of let's self medicate. I had had an accident and the Dr's had put me on pain medications, muscle relaxers, and then a Valium to sleep at night. And I cant speak for all drugs, but pain killers are very easy to get addicted to...one leads to two, then three at a time, then before i knew it I was taking 5 at a time just to get out of bed and be able to function for the day. Until one day, I had decided enough is enough, I NEED HELP!! Now, don't get me wrong, oh I tried many times to quit on my own, but when have easy access to it, it's very hard. Not to mention, pain killers don't just effect you mentally, it effects you physically, as well. And, that's putting it lightly. The withdrawals literally make you feel as If you're were dying, and sadly, there were numerous times... I wanted to....just so I wouldn't hurt anymore. What people fail to tell you, is when you coming "down" off the drugs, any and all the past hurts or trauma you've experienced, play like a broken record over and over like its stuck on repeat, then you start feeling unworthy and useless, and no one cares about you. Luckily, I was able to get the right help I needed, but it wasn't an easy road. I dint know if it was because I was using narcotics to self medicate, even tho I had a legit script for, the facility I was sent, showed no compassion. Tbh, I felt worse after being admitted than I did before I ever went there. I'm not saying, I wasn't suppose to be held accountable for choices and actions, but if you choose to work in the mental health profession, you should never make the patients feel as if we were just a waste of your time. And not yrying to toot my own horn, but I VOLUNTEERED to seek health. I was not court ordered, matter of fact, when I went in fir my evaluation its almost like they didn't believe me. Like who would say "I'm taking this, this and this...in these amounts...and its gotten wat out of hand. .I NEED HELP!!"...if they didn't. IDK it might just be me ..but I would never. Remember I was raised on "sweeping it under the rug and forget about it". But I will say, out of the horrible experience I had with said hospital, I was sent to the best pyscharist and therapists....ever!! And I found out that my trauma had actually started way before my 8yo situation. And not only that, I was correctly diagnosed and prescribed the correct medications to help me to not just deal with but help me heal from my past. MENTAL HEALTH IS REAL. I was diagnosed with PTSD-C, depression, anxiety, social phobia (which is social anxiety), and I'm also ADHD. I was diagnosed when I was younger with the ADHD, but i only took my meds when I working. So when my hubby said I didn't have to work anymore, I didn't feel the need to take it, boy was I wrong. I literally drove my hubby crazy cause I would start so many tasks and get distracted and not finish them, then he could not understand WHY I'd be so exhausted at the end of the day, cause I'd never complete anything. But, I can happily say, things have went in a Different now. And I'm starting to feel.....well like ME now!! Thanks for sharing your story. I was one of those watching through tears, cause it def hit home for me. And, I'll most def be getting one of your self care journal set ups. I know there's other out, even one just recently got released, and they are probably great.....but they just didn't fit in with my self care needs like yours does. Also, I LOVE to color, to this day, myself. I hope you have a blessed rest of the day....and I added you to my prayer list, cause i know from personal experience.. .any and all prayers helps❤❤❤❤❤❤

Hey Sharla! Our lives are very similar! Your story sounds a lot like my Moms, unfortunately she didn’t see the help she needed. At 44 I can see how my Mom made the choice to self medicate. To “numb” out. It’s so sad too because my Mom was a great mom when she was sober. The pills took that from her. I’m so glad you are getting yourself back!🙌 Not many people can do that. I’m proud of you! You’re on my prayer list as well💕💕

Drug overuse and mental disorders are medical conditions just like high blood pressure and diabetes. Continue with your treatments.
